Overview

We’re all used to car manufacturers using some ‘creative’ figures in their marketing materials. It’s just a fact we take for granted when perusing official stats. But the C63 we see here is perhaps one of the most egregious examples of this. It features no less than three smart chrome badges declaring it to be a 6.3. Very good, so you might assume that its V8 engine has a capacity somewhere in the range of 6,300 cc. Well it does, but only if you interpret ‘rounding’ to mean ‘only ever rounding up, no ifs no buts’.

We guess that we have to let them off though, as apart from this mildly irritating fact, the 6,208 cc engined C63 is absolutely fabulous. This particular car features the desirable P30 Performance Package, which means it takes some of the forged engine internal parts from the SLS and uses them to boost power output up to 480 bhp. This factory-fitted upgrade option also includes composite front brake discs, red brake callipers, and a carbon fibre rear spoiler.

It features all the interior luxuries you would expect to find on a high-end car of this period, including onboard sat nav, and dual-zone climate control, as well as an AMG steering wheel.

On the outside, the car is finished in Obsidian Black, and comes with diamond-cut alloy wheels. A spare set of refurbished AMG wheels is included in the sale. The black paint looks good against its subtle chrome trim pieces, and the car’s styling holds its own well against more modern cars.

So unless you’re the kind of numerical pedant who would lose sleep over the mis-rounding of numbers on the back of your car, this C63 AMG has a seriously juicy specification to offer. And that’s what really counts.
