Overview

The first-generation C63 AMG - referred to by aficionados as the W204-era model - is widely regarded as being the ultimate iteration of the ‘small car, big engine’ ethos, particularly when looking at AMG’s back-catalogue. Based around the fabulously over-engineered ‘M156’ naturally aspirated V8 engine, even in its slightly de-tuned state as offered in the C63 it packed a hefty punch, producing 451bhp, enough to complete a 0-62 run in around 4.5 seconds; this is supercar performance in a saloon bodyshell, with enough to carry the whole family in comfort and yet show a clean pair of heels to bona-fide exotica.

This particular wolf-in-sheeps-clothing is a lesser-seen unmodified example, which makes it a very rare prospect indeed; the C63 is a haven for both experienced and inexperienced modifiers alike, so to find one that hasn’t been at the mercy of either of the aforementioned parties is becoming harder and harder as time goes on. 

Boasting a strong factory specification including a Harman/Kardon sound system and memory function on the driver’s seat, this supercar-humbling saloon would make a fantastic addition to any enthusiast’s driveway, and makes a compelling case for being the ultimate family vehicle.

• We note that the lower rear portion of both front seats are lightly scuffed

• The door cards show a few scuffs and wear marks to the handles and leather trims

• Elsewhere, the high-traffic areas such as the steering wheel, shifter and switchgear display a commensurate level of wear with the vehicle’s age

• In the rear, the spare wheel, jack, first aid kit and warning triangle are present-and-correct

Exterior

• Subtle AMG-specific bodywork hides the incredible mechanicals underneath

• The paint and bodywork are in great condition throughout, with only some light wear to be expected from a 13-year-old car

• Looking closer, the front end has the usual smattering of stone chips, the lower sills and the rear of all four arches shows some typical gravel rash, and there are a couple of larger stone chips on both offside doors

• The seller notes that both nearside doors have small dents, though these are near-impossible to photograph and have to be purposefully looked-for to be seen

• The front bumper was resprayed prior to the seller’s ownership

• All four wheels present very well, though the seller has noted a small patch of lacquer damage on the offside front wheel

Summary
