Overview

The fact that the Porsche Boxster has remained in constant production since its inception in 1996 speaks volumes as to the model's enduring appeal, and Porsche's venerable mid-engined two-seater sports car remains a common and welcome sight on today's roads. The nameplate may stretch back 30 years now but the design, and indeed technology utilised in the Boxster's production has come on leaps and bounds, and the third-generation is perhaps where things really took a turn for the advanced.

Utilising the new 911 design language the 981 Boxster – to give it its official nomenclature – not only looked more modern than the outgoing 987 but it also featured updated engine and driveline specs, as well as a more technologically progressive setup in general, with the likes of electronically controlled steering, torque vectoring and a fancy new screen for the cabin, amongst other updates.

What hadn't changed though was the car's excellent handling characteristics and dynamic drive-ability, qualities that made the original Boxsters so popular. Yes, performance was up thanks to its new 2.7-litre flat-six engine and the car's overall weight was down but the third-gen Boxster had lost none of the attributes, personality and indeed accessibility that make these cars so beloved by Stuttgart die-hards and general car buffs alike.

This particular 2015 Porsche Boxster convertible presents in decent shape throughout and looks great in its black over red roof colourway. A set of Carrera III alloy wheels completes the look and the black leather interior is in similar condition. Complete with Porsche main dealer service history the car comes with the Sport Chrono package which means additional features such as selectable driving modes, launch control, dynamic gearbox mounts and a dash-mounted stopwatch, among other things.

There are some light signs of use commensurate with age and mileage but the car appears to be a solid, usable example with plenty left to give that has been regularly maintained and is reportedly running well so if you're looking for a judicious and perhaps relatively affordable entry point into modern Porsche ownership then this could be just the ticket.
