Overview

A proper rally-bred weapon, the Toyota GR Yaris is about as hot of a hatchback as you can get. Developed by Toyota's motorsport arm Gazoo Racing motorsport and with input from legendary multiple World Rally Championship winner Tommi Makinen, the original GR Yaris was released as an homologation special in 2020 to rapturous applause. With its 260bhp, 1.6-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine and four-wheel drive the GR Yaris could post a 0-60mph of just five-and-a-half seconds. Toyota would up the bar in 2024 with a facelift which included a tweaked engine for an increase in peak power to 300bhp (and a new 0-60mph time of 5.0s), an eight-speed flappy paddle automatic gearbox option and improved suspension.

This particular 2024 RZ High Performance edition features the uprated engine and stiffer suspension but comes with a six-speed manual gearbox for heightened levels of engagement. More track-focused, the car is also fitted with front and rear Torsen limited-slip differentials, lightweight forged wheels for improved grip and cornering capabilities as well as a more driver-focused interior layout.
