Overview

Come on now, who doesn't love a hot hatch? Practical and sporty in equal measure it's a market that has been sadly under-represented since the heady days of models like the 205 and Golf GTIs, the Renault 5 Turbo and Clio Williams. Yes there have been dribs and drabs over the years but it's never featured as prominently in mainstream manufacturers line-ups as it has in the past. Well luckily there has been one car maker flying the flag for this most meritorious of marques since 2020 and Toyota's GR Yaris still very much gets the juices flowing.

Motorsport inspired and rally-bred, the excellent GR Yaris was produced as an homologation special and with its 260bhp, 1.6-litre turbo – developed with input from legendary racing driver Tommi Makinen – it certainly lived up to the hype. Fast forward to today and the GR Yaris now produces 300bhp thanks to a facelift upgrade in 2024 and remains a truly focused, desirable and really rather practical performance compact.

2024 also saw the introduction of the Ogier edition – a limited production model built to celebrate eight-time World Rally Champion Sebastien Ogier. There were only 200 ever made, making opportunities to own one on these shores incredibly rare. Based on the Type 24 RZ High Performance model the car features exclusive touches and bespoke details and is powered by Toyota’s aforementioned 300bhp version of the 1.6-litre triple, paired with a slick 6-speed manual gearbox and the legendary GR-FOUR all-wheel drive system offering an outstanding driving experience with exceptional grip, balance and performance in all conditions.

This stunning low mileage example has covered just 6,971km from new, which equates to approximately 4,331 miles, making it practically a brand new car.
