Ferrari Testarossa Single Mirror
The Ferrari Testarossa - the flamboyant 80’s icon
From Miami vice to Rivera jet-set, the Testarossa was the embodiment of the extravagant 1980’s. The car was loved by royals, celebrities and titans of industry throughout its production run. Unveiled to the world the night before the opening of the 1984 Paris Motor Show at the famed Lido nightclub on the Champs-Élysées in Paris, the Ferrari Testarossa was and still is an ambassador of an era. It represents l’art de vivre, a time of magnificence. With a 5 litre flat 12 engine producing 385bhp and 410nm of torque it was one of the quickest cars in the world at its launch reaching 180mph flat out. Since the launch of the car in 1984 at the Paris motor-show, its sold close to 10,000 until world wide with 438 RHD cars coming to the UK. The desirable, early Monospecchio (single mirror) Testarossa finished in classic Rosso Corsa exterior with only 23,000 miles. A supercar icon.
Ferrari Testarossa Monospechio - 1985
The Testarossa is a rare car with 438 UK RHD cars produced. The Monospechio is believed to be much less, around 48 RHD UK cars were produced and this example was supplied by Maranello concessionaires of Egham, in Surrey. In 1985 the car was originally brought by the 1953 le mans 24 hour winner Duncan Hamilton. The car stayed with the Hamilton family until 1988, where it was shared between him and his son Adrian. After 3 years of ownership, the car was sold to a private collector who owned a logistics and distribution company and kept the car for 4 years. After 4 years it joined was sold to the third owner who subsequently kept the car for another 4 years from 1992 until 1996 where it sold to a gentleman who had the car for the summer and then sold it to another collector of Ferrari’s. The 4th owner had it in his collection for 3 years, joining the Ferrari owners club as well as driving the car to different events throughout his ownership. In late 1999, the car was sold from the collection to a company director that had the car and covered very little miles in it compared to the gentleman who then acquired the car in 2001, but he had carried out extensive work on the car making it as new over the 3 years he had the car for 2001. The car was sold to a gentleman who specialised in restoring classic Bentleys, Rolls Royces and Jaguars, in the August of 2001. The car sat as part of his collection for the next 13 years where he would use it frequently. He unfortunately passed away in 2014 and the car became available once more. Since then the car has been owned by 1 more individual from 2014 until 2020 where we at Kaaimans became the custodians of it. Whilst we’ve had the car, its has an extensive service done totalling near £3,500. This car has one of the best history files on the market from the original V5 to old copies of MOT certificates, it really is to be marvelled over.
