Alfa Romeo 1750 Spider Veloce 105.58 Series
Black Mohair Soft Top, 15'' Alloy Wheels, Leather Trim, Wooden Steering Wheel, Front Disc Brakes, 5 Speed Manual transmission, ULEZ COMPLIANT Alfa Romeo’s pretty little Duetto (Boat-Tail) Spider first appeared at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1966 and was simply launched with the name 'Spider 1600'. It was based on the highly successful 105-series chassis which it shared with the Giulia coupe and saloon. Italian's routinely call the long-running Alfa Romeo Spider (made in four series between 1966 and 1993) 'Duetto' (Duet) despite this word never appearing anywhere on either the car or the related promotional material. As successor to the Giulia Spider, the Spider remained in production for almost three decades and the first three Series were assembled by Pininfarina in Grugliasco and the fourth Series in San Giorgio Canavese. The last Spider of that series was manufactured in April 1993 — the last rear wheel drive Alfa Romeo before the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione of 2007. The new Duetto was the last project that the company’s founder Battista Pininfarina had a personal hand in, and he was rightfully very proud of the results. The beautiful design is characterised by the distinctly sculptured body sides and the signature tapered tail treatment. To many enthusiasts, the Duetto is the purest expression of the Spider range and the most desirable variant from the 27 year production run. According to Alfa Romeo's production register, this RHD Alfa Romeo 1750 Spider Veloce - VIN/Chassis No: AR 1470430 and Engine No: AR0054856274 was built in Italy on 3rd February 1969 and shipped to Johannesburg, South Africa where it was first registered on 10th June 1969. It is a fantastic example, combining the highly desirable 1750 twin-cam engine and 5 Speed Gearbox in the classic ‘round tail’ body it was the subject of a near Concours rebuild by classic car specialist Crossley & Webb in Cape Town, South Africa in 2018. The photographs show the extent of this restoration and almost everything on the car was renewed or reconditioned including the Engine, Gearbox and rear Axle and all ancillary equipment and wiring etc. The car does look fabulous on the 14'' pepper-pot Alloy wheels fitted with new Dunlop SP Sport Tyres. This car is in genuinely exceptional condition throughout and drives superbly and we are advised that the car has covered less than 1,000 miles since the restoration was completed. There are very few Right Hand Drive examples as good as this on the market today! The car has just been UK registered with the age related numberplate TUJ 674H and upon sale it will come with our own customer care package including our HPI/provenance Check, 55-point pre-delivery inspection and our own 6 months mechanical breakdown Parts & Labour Warranty which can be upgraded and extended at additional cost if required. The car is of course Road Tax Free and ULEZ compliant. Car on display at our showrooms in Mortlake, SW London.
