1956 Mercedes-Benz 190SL

Hilton & Moss are pleased to bring this beautiful Mercedes-Benz (W121) 190SL to the market. The 190SL model was produced from May 1955 to 1963 making this a particularly early example first registered in the US in February 02 1956. This means that this vehicle is fitted with the rare (W198) 300SL bucket style seats.

 

This Mercedes has most recently undergone a full but equally sympathetic body and mechanical restoration at Hilton and Moss resulting in a very original but equally useable classic roadster.

 

This 190SL is finished in its original colour way DB180 Metallic Silver with a dark blue MB-Tex interior. The team at Hilton & Moss have completed a fully respray and underbody restoration on the vehicle to exacting original standards. As a dry state vehicle this car suffered from very little rust thus meaning that original spot welds and details were retained throughout the restoration process. A brand-new soft top has been fitted, finished as per the cars MB data card in 872 Rubber black. The interior has been carefully restored retaining components where possible. A new blue carpet set has been fitted in the correct boucle weave to finish the interior.

 

The team at Hilton & Moss have systematically worked through the mechanical components of this Mercedes to ensure reliability. During the restoration both front and rear subframes were removed from the car and any seals, gaskets and bushes were replaced where required. The vehicle has been fitted with four new classic white wall tyres and fully serviced ready for the next custodian.

 

Within the cars file is a vastly documented history from throughout the cars life. Previous restoration work, ownership changes and various notes from past keepers builds a picture of the cars life prior to the UK import in June 2018. An original data card is supplied with the vehicle confirming the specification and that this is indeed a matching numbers vehicle.

 

The data card also confirms period optional equipment which includes a lockable glovebox and a power brake booster.
