motodrome offer for sale this fine looking example of the iconic Mark 1 Golf GTi – this a 1983 1.8 5-speed, finished in Mars Red with contrasting sports trim. .

Fitted with sunroof, campaign-style quad lamp grille, and later Pirelli 14in alloys, shod with a matching set of tyres. We have 4 of the original 13in alloys with tyres which will come with the car on sale.

Inside it’s completely standard except for a more modern radio/CD, rear seat belts, and an immobiliser.

Odometer reading 89900m. The last owner, an enthusiast who’d had it since 2013, commissioned a really nice restoration including a full glass out, panels off respray by Alan Moore, which we’re told was finished in December 2021 and cost in excess of £7000.00 for the body. We have photos of the bare shell undergoing work. It’s fair to say the results are extremely impressive.

The previous owner also states that at the same time the engine was removed and rebuilt, and the brakes and suspension fully overhauled with new Bilstein gas shocks etc. It’s done very little mileage since it’s been finished.

I think you’ll struggle to find a nicer example – it presents superbly, and drives just as riotously as one of these should – you can easily see why they were such a revelation in their day.
