1968 PORSCHE 911

What a wonderful car this is! It's a 1968 short-wheelbase 911 that has been lovingly rebuilt by classic Porsche specialists Rennsport into a road-rally-style car, inspired by the super-rare 911T/R of the late 1960s.

The car is finished in period Light Ivory with grey 'Porsche' side-stripes, plus 15-inch Fuchs alloy wheels shod with Avon tyres. Twin Cibie spotlights add to the cool rally vibe.

The interior is also rally inspired, with a half-rollcage, tartan-trimmed Recaro seats with Willans four-point racing harnesses, leather-trimmed Momo steering wheel, Heuer Chronograph analogue clock, plus smart dashboard-mounted Heuer rally timing stopwatches, and tartan-trimmed RS-style door panels.

The engine is a freshly-built Rennsport 2.5-litre flat-six with Weber carburettors, stainless-steel RS-pattern exhaust manifolds and K&N air filters. The power goes through a rebuilt five-speed 915 gearbox with a WEVO shifter and a limited-slip differential, both rebuilt by 911 transmission experience Mike Banebridge. The engine has only done running-in miles since its rebuild.

The bodyshell was 0riginally a US-market example which has been comprehensively rebuilt by Rennsport using steel panels, including new floorpans, Carrera rear quarter panels, a full right-hand drive bulkhead, roof skin, front wings and bumpers.

The suspension is uprated with Bilstein sport dampers on uprated torsion bars, plus a Wiechers Sport front strut brace. The brakes, meanwhile, are Carrera 3.2 items, as is the oil cooler. Electric power steering kicks in at parking speeds to make this a very useable classic.

The Porsche comes with three folders of paperwork, detailing the car's history and work done to bring it up to its current high standard of finish.
