Description

Synonymous with historic motorsport, Goodwood is also known for one other famous motoring aspect. A cornerstone of automotive excellence in fact. Rolls-Royce have established their new factory there producing the Phantom, unrestrained luxury, flawless build quality and, needless to say, the most desirable luxury car on the market today. Powered by a 6.7 litre, V12 BMW power plant, this impressive tour de force of motor engineering excellence can still propel this leviathan to over 60mph in under six seconds. Not that you'd ever ask it to do so, however. The ride quality is also second to none given its advanced air ride suspension and automatic self-levelling control system. The aluminium body structure represents the ultimate in automotive technology with the internal choices entirely in the hands of the owner and with the very best quality available, the finest hide trim, genuine woollen carpets and carefully selected wood veneers on offer. In March 2005, an Extended Wheelbase Phantom was displayed at the Geneva Motor Show and was 9.8” longer than the standard car. The Phantom EWB was, without a doubt, the new benchmark in terms of luxury and road presence, literally overshadowing the rather dull looking Maybach and making the long wheel-base variants of the S-Class, BMW’s 7-series and Audi A8 look like glorified taxis.
This immaculate example left the Goodwood factory for its destination London dealership, HR Owen, in 2011 and represents one of just 818 built that year. Built in four seater ‘Theatre’ arrangement and resplendent in diamond black coachwork with a contrasting (and upgraded) parchment white/black leather interior with black piping, interwoven RRs into the headrests and ‘piano black’ door cappings and dash, the feeling of space and comfort is unparalleled.
Needless to say, the features found are numerous but do include a navigation system with voice recognition, rear-view camera and a rear-seat DVD entertainment system including 15-speaker Lexicon Logic7 premium sound system and an eight disc CD changer. The front seats are 18-way power units with the rears offering 16-way power options. The rear seats also have tables and even the cup holders are both heated and cooled to complement the refrigerator. There is also an outside-temperature indicator, universal garage door opener, power tilt/telescopic heated wood and leather-wrapped steering wheel with radio, climate (five-zone), and navigation controls. It goes without saying that both the boot and doors are powered opening and closing units and the piece de resistance, of course, are the automatically dried umbrellas hidden in the doors...
