Triumph TR4 Sports

15'' Chrome Wheels, Front Spot Lights, Full Weather Equipment, Black Vinyl Soft Top, Hood cover, Folding Roof, Vinyl Trim, Wooden Steering Wheel, Burr Walnut Trim, Front Disc Brakes, Rear Drum Brakes, Fire Extinguisher, Front Fog Lights, 4 Speed Manual Gearbox, ULEZ COMPLIANT, Kenlowe Electric Fan, Synchromesh transmission DEPOSIT TAKEN Produced between 1961 and 1967, the TR4 combined a new, modern and aggressive body design by famed Italian stylist, Giovanni Michelotti mounted on the chassis of the previous TR3A. The TR4 also improved passenger comfort with wind-up windows, face-level ventilation and an optional hardtop. The 2138cc engine of the late-production TR3A continued while the 1991cc engine was also made available to buyers who wanted to participate in two litre racing. Today, these four-cylinder TR's are among the easiest of post-war classic sports cars to own and maintain being supported by a multitude of component suppliers and other specialists. In January 1963, Motor Sport Magazine said, ''Let us get the Triumph TR4 in correct perspective from the start. It is a sports car pure and simple, not a GT machine, and it is intended to instil fun into your motoring rather than provide effortless long-distance travel across Europe. Other motoring journalists said It was a proper ''Hairy-chested'' sports car with a muscular presence, especially when compared with a gentler MGB, an even meeker Sunbeam Alpine. This original RHD Triumph TR4 - Chassis No: CT16408 and Engine No: CT16463E is a 'matching numbers' car and was first registered on 1st January 1963 with the number plate XDB 384. It was a ONE owner car until 2014 when unfortunately the owner passed away and the current keeper bought it from his wife and collected the car from their villa in Portugal where it was taken for the summer each year. It had been restored by the first owner to an exceptionally high standard prior to his purchase and he has since spent just over £20,000 on various cosmetic works and mechanical upgrades over the last 9 years to keep the car in top condition, with £17,800 alone having been spent with TR specialist Enginuity in London. This car is in beautiful condition throughout, as can be seen from the photographs, and it is certainly one of the best examples we have had in for sale for some time. The speedometer was indicating 41,679 miles when it was replaced in 2014 by Enginuity and it has only covered 1,800 miles since. Upon sale the car will be given a pre-sales service & new MOT (although now exempt) and it will come with our own 6 Month Mechanical Warranty. It is also Road Tax Free and ULEZ exempt, and it can be insured very cheaply with an agreed value Classic Car Insurance policy. Car on display @ our showrooms in Mortlake, SW London.
