A 1950 Jaguar XK120 alloy body were limitedly produced to an exclusive 240 units. The XK120 was a turning point in Jaguars history and was notably the fastest car in the world, at the time of its launch in 1948. This matching numbered example presents in beautiful colours, sports the correct and rare rear fender spats just as it was delivered when new. One of just 184 left hand drive cars built, the car was completed on January 26, 1950, and shipped to the Jaguar distributor CAMAV in Caracas, Venezuela, in part to meet the demand from the remarkable number of wealthy Venezuelan sports car enthusiasts that were eager to purchase the new British sports car.
The vehicle was then imported to the US in 1979 where it founds its next owner in Tacoma, Washington. While it was under ownership in the US, it saw 2 refined restorations, elevating it to concours winning condition where it won Best of Show at the Bend, Oregon 4th Biennial JCNA, notably scoring 99.36. As a trophy among remaining examples, the car has since enjoyed climate-controlled storage and gentle use.
Today, the vehicles present in excellent condition. The overall of the exterior visual presentation is one of a delightfully matured restoration that still charms even the most ardent jaguar enthusiast.
Under the hood, the beautiful Jaguar dual-overhead camshaft engine still sparkles and delights with excellent finishes and correct components. The car starts easily in part due to a very convenient and easy to use electric choke. Concealed on the passenger side under the dash, a small button is pulled out for starting. After sitting at idle for a minute or so, to reach the operating temperature of the vehicle, the button is released and a lower idle settles the engine. The clutch takes properly, the oil pressure is good, the system charges as expected and there is no oil smoke when running. The vehicle is accompanied with a matching tan convertible top, side curtains and side curtain covers.
A genuine handmade aluminium XK120 roadster must be considered one of the premier examples of Automotive Art in any collection. These alloy bodied Jaguars are highly sought after and extremely rare in running order.
