What a divine design the Citroën DS is. That description is quite intentional, the French pronounce the DS as Déesse, meaning goddess. The DS made its debut at the Paris Autosalon of 1955 and within 15 minutes no less than 743 orders were taken, rising to 12,000 orders by the end of the day. It was a flying start for the Frenchman who became known as the most comfortable car ever. The hydraulic suspension and its unique form deservedly give the DS its very own platform in the world of classics.

This 21 Injection Automatique arrived in Holland in the late 80’s and was immediately subjected to a thorough restoration. Cost and effort were nor spared during this process. In 1990 the DS21 Injection Automatique was given Dutch plates and has lived a peaceful and happy life ever since, purely being used for recreational trips out. In 2009 the very same owner decided to have the car resprayed, not because of any damage or such, but because he thought there was room for improving the quality of the paintwork. This just goes to show how dedicated and fine this DS has been maintained. In 2011 the DS went to its last owner.

Quite understandably the bodywork is in excellent shape. The paintwork is very tidy. The roof has a broken white finish contrasting the deep red body finish. This is a car you can directly take out on the road to experience just how comfortable a DS drives. An automatic DS elevates the level of comfort to a whole new dimension.

The seats and rear bench are upholstered in soft to touch cloth. Once you have settled behind the wheel of a DS you will inevitably get the urge to drive on to the Provence for a jolly good French wine.

The trip will undoubtably be trouble free with this DS as it has always been serviced and maintained by Citroën specialists. Not just the necessary maintenance but lots of preventative measures and improvements were undertaken too. Recently all fluids were replaced together the fitting of brand new tyres. There is ample documentation to verify the above.
