PORSCHE 928 GT 1991
Where to start. Owned for 15 years, previous PH owner 12 years. Guards red. Black leather interior piped red. Genuine GT model with 5 speed manual.
Rare 928GT as only 224 RHD GT models were ever made.
GT features high lift camshafts and dog-leg manual gearbox as standard. Power is raised over the S4 to 330PS. This car was born in 1991 so exempt from catalytic converters which although fitted from new have been replaced with a high performance Y pipe which claims an extra 10%. (original catalytic pipes are included). This adds a noticeable boost to mid range torque which makes a usable contribution to power delivery. Torquey V8 motor is effortless through the gears and the car likes to rev despite its 5.0 litre displacement.
Top speed of 170 is notable for a 30 year old car. 0-60 in 5 seconds. These were very over engineered cars then and still exceed quality standards from modern cars. If correctly serviced this car will last forever!
Factory options include Cap 2 alloys (original not copies) and tear drop mirrors -not the awful square mirrors found on most GT's.
Absolutely huge history file (box file) detailing everything from the first owner to current. Around thirty thousand pounds plus to date in the box file. Previous owner and myself were proactive in maintaining the required servicing.
Car comes with complete with genuine 9 manual Porsche Workshop manuals (£1500 if you can even find them as discontinued). These detail everything from interior trim to engine rebuilds. Not a Haynes manual.
Car drives really well: does not use any oil, does not smoke, does not overheat, has no mechanical noises, changes gear perfectly. Drives really well. List of replacement parts is endless. Full respray due to fading paint. Original before paint pictures available showing sun bleaching. No rust to the body, only small amounts of corrosion that were treated. Most panels are aluminium so will not rust.
The mileage is currently 182,000 but everything is working perfectly as you would expect from a car with this service history, Engine has been stripped and inspected, cam belt tensioner was replaced by Paul Anderson (928 specialist) and no other engine internals showed signs of wear which is conclusive with an over serviced engine. I requested that he changed the mains and big end bearings, but was summoned to view the engine in bits, and was shown that no wear had taken place. When I questioned how this is possible, he said that 928 servicing was over-zealous and not necessary at such short intervals - and of course he was correct.
Failed its MOT last year due to corrosion of the sills - at the end caps where the salt water is sprayed. Had both the inner (which were not bad only 5% surface rust) replaced completely, along with the outside sills,

I am sure I have missed loads so will update this as I find the relevant content.
Genuine car which has been used and enjoyed. Always serviced. I have priced this car to sell and think that it is pitched realistically. This is not a garage queen, this is a usable classic that will only appreciate going forwards. Insurance for me is £140pa.
Lower milage GT's are fetching a premium.
A 70,000 mile car is for sale for between £30,000 and £65,000
You can have mine for half of that and it will drive just the same. I did not intend to ever sell this car but a new house forces a very reluctant sale. Lovely genuine car in all respects.
