Sourced by the current owner in 2016 as a low mileage and well cared for example in an elegant and sporting colour combination; a decision was made the carry out the complex and laborious task of converting this 599 GTB from the the F1-automated gearbox to that of the coveted, open H-patterned manual, two years into ownership. For reference, Ferrari originally built only around 50 examples of the 599 GTB in manual, against a total production run of around 4,000 cars.
The extensive works were carried out over the course of 11 months and required numerous original components only found on the original cars, including the carbon fibre centre console, steering wheel without paddles, plus of course, the mirrored clutch pedal. Invoices on file for work total £85,000 and the client supplied a wealth of original parts accumulated over a number of years as and when they were available. Sourced at great expense, these parts worth at least £15,000 ensure fit and finish presents as factory. With the works completed, an original 599 GTO bonnet was sourced and fitted; all original parts accompany the vehicle.
Today this 599 GTB presents as a rare opportunity; the final V12 Ferrari to have the option with an H-pattern manual gearbox, available at a fraction of the cost of one of the original 50 examples. An unrepeatable conversion, carried out using genuine, sought after new-old-stock parts, this 599 GTB presents in our showrooms outside London immediately.
