1966 Mercedes-Benz 250 SE Coupe
Pavilion Gardens | Buxton, Derbyshire 35000 - 40000 Registration No: ACY 37D Chassis No: 11102122083553 MOT: Exempt Just 51,000 miles from new and only five ownersRare and desirable UK-supplied, right-hand drive exampleSupplied new by Gay and Lougher Motors Ltd, Cardiff and first registered CY 27Offered with a large history file including original stamped service bookThe rarest W111 variant, produced for only two years (65-67)Entered from the Loch Lomond Collection, a collection made up of excellent examples of predominantly 1950s, 60s, and 70s classics Introduced in mid-1959, the Mercedes-Benz W111 series was a natural progression from the 220 Pontoon. The new models were bigger inside and out and sported a greater abundance of brightwork; not to mention the finned rear wings which spawned the model's 'fintail' nickname. In addition to the four-door Saloon, the range comprised an elegant two-door Cabriolet and Coupe. The cars were very well-appointed inside, being adorned with Mercedes textured leather and wood trimmings. The fully-independent suspension comprised wishbones and coil springs at the front and low-pivot swing-axles with radius arms and coil springs at the rear, the ride from which was very statesmanlike. From the mid-1960s the Mercedes-Benz range expanded by the now familiar and well-tried process of mixing engines and bodyshells. The 230 and 230S saloons of 1965-1968 employed a 2281cc engine in the 220 bodyshell; while two new motors, the 2496cc 240 and 2778cc 280, powered a new, larger and lower body, resulting in the 250S, 250SE and 250SEC as well as similar models in the 280 range. All these cars were available in 4-door saloon, 2-door coupe or convertible form. More information following shortly.
