Description
Background:
A turbocharged version of the 944 was always on the cards, and for the 1985 model year, Porsche introduced the 944 Turbo, known internally as the 951. Forced induction boosted the 2.5-litre engine by a healthy 60bhp, bringing the total to 217bhp, with an uprated clutch and gearbox to handle the additional power.
The Turbo also featured several enhancements over the standard model, including improved aerodynamics—most notably an integrated front bumper—along with standard external oil coolers for both the engine and transmission, standard 16" wheels (with optional forged Fuchs alloys), and a slightly stiffer suspension setup. Braking was upgraded with Brembo 4-piston fixed calipers and 12" discs, borrowed from the 911, and ABS was fitted as standard.
The Car:
This 1990 Porsche 944 Turbo was supplied new by Five Oaks Garage, an official Porsche dealer in Jersey, Channel Islands, and is presented here with just three previous owners.
The car presents extremely well in its original Zermatt Silver Metallic over a black interior, and it drives beautifully, benefitting from a number of tasteful upgrades that enhance both appearance and performance.
Included with the car is a substantial history file, featuring a service book with over 20 stamps from a range of main dealers and marque specialists. It has been maintained regardless of cost, with invoices from the last 20 years totalling a staggering £50,000.
There is also a large collection of invoices chronicling its maintenance, from its early days in Jersey to its importation to the UK mainland in 1994, and onwards through its life to date.
