Aston Zagato Tribute

A proper GT with style and rarity.

I bought the base car, a bmw Z3 in March 2022 from Rockwells in Stockport and installed the Tribute body panels, inspired by the Zagato Italian bodybuilders. Gorgeous, pearlescent, Aston style, metallic green paint. Stunning appearance and great conversation starter.

3.0 litres 6 cylinders super smooth & powerful with 238bhp Auto Air Con. Mileage now 92,456 - only 3 previous owners. Wheels are period look 15” alloys with stainless cover plates and cosmetic spinners for an authentic look. Tyres: front & rear 215/65. All Bridgestone Turanzas – good grip and comfort. One years MoT to April 2026.

Rear well area lined with padded leather and carpet, behind the Sapele wooden cross beam providing room for luggage / shopping / trip essentials. Light grey woolen headlining with foam cushioning. Steering wheel recovered by Royale in Aylesbury. Tasty ‘M Sport’ door mirrors.

The rear body panels extend the boot a bit and a box is fitted in the space for your tools or sandwiches. You won’t get the kitchen sink in here but there is plenty of room for two weeks holiday luggage. There is a strengthening frame as a roll hoop, above the doors and back to the old tail lights; padded and leather covered above the doors. New 6” speakers in parcel shelf. Old bonnet gas strut holds boot lid up and shut comfortably.

LED H4 type headlight bulbs with cooling fans, means that for night driving the road is well lit. LED Lighting under bonnet and more in the boot. New Heated Rear Window after painting. New windscreen after painting. Reversing camera in dummy boot catch, monitor on drivers sun visor. Small high level brake light. Period rear lights with reflector / foglights. Road tax disc dated December 1962

Suspension: all renewed springs and front dampers, not lowered for best comfort & period look. Power Flex ARB links fitted. Top gear is very tall meaning about 30mph per 1000rpm. Economy is 26 – 32mpg. We use Liqui Moli Oil additive and only top up occasionally. Oil & filter every year. Transmission oil changed at 77000 miles.

Stainless rear bumper from Harringtons with stainless brackets and front over-riders; Stainless stripes below the doors and in the side vents. Lots of stainless fasteners. Stainless tail pipes. The small spare wheel has been powder coated in silver for a neater appearance. There is a pair of brand new Zimmerman front discs included, but not needed yet.

Seats reupholstered with grey Auto leather and green leather gear change & handbrake gaiters. Door cards recovered in green and grey Auto leather. Oval ‘M Sport’ door mirrors. Arm rest from a bmw with hinged plate.

Undersealed. Some parts: spare wheel frame, steering cooler pipe, front frame cross member, sub engine frame all powder coated in darker green. Shrouded the radiator to direct air and keep the engine bay cleaner. Some shrouding around the area below the boot. Insulated with loads of Dynamat & Dynaliner.
