This R107-generation Mercedes-Benz 500 SL is a tastefully specified and well-cared for example of the stylish yet potent modern classic roadster, Under the bonnet sits a naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8, delivering around 237bhp to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission with a limited-slip differential. The odometer shows 136,134 miles from new. First registered in August 1987, this original UK-market example has been with the last and 6th owner for nine and a half years. This 500 SL is finished in the appealing hue of Deep Blue with both a matching hard-top and a dark blue convertible roof, over a Palomino leather-trimmed interior, with a contrasting black upper dashboard and steering wheel, as well as wood veneer trim inlays. It rides on a set of 15-inch '15-hole' alloy wheels, shod in Hankook Optimo tyres. The factory specification includes a four-bar steering wheel, electric windows, cruise control, dual-zone heating and ventilation controls, and an electrically adjustable passenger door mirror. The car's has a new MOT which passed on 30 April 2025 at 136134 miles, This 500 SL's most recent maintenance was carried out in 2019 by Hexagon Classics, which consisted of a major service, including new spark plugs, a new steering box, the heater blower and indicator wiring repaired, the interior lights rewired, a new steering column top bearing, the horn contact repaired, both top and bottom ball joint rubbers replaced, the passenger-side roof rubber fixed, and passenger-side wiper assembly and door speaker repaired. This major maintenance also included a repair being carried out on the driver's seat back due to it not locking, the air temperature sensor on the engine rewired, the nearside door mirror repaired, the vacuum pipe replaced, the passenger window drop adjusted, the driver's door lock repaired, and the offside rear brake disc back-plate straightened.
