Description
This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Classic Sale at Wheeler Dealer Live 2025 on Sunday the 1st of June, Bicester Motion, OX26 5HA.
The Austin-Healey 3000 Mk III was launched in October 1963 and remained in production until the end of 1967 when production of all Austin-Healeys ceased
Classified as the BJ8, the new model was the most powerful and luxurious of the big Healeys with a Walnut veneer dash, wind-up windows and a 150bhp engine. Improvements to the engine included a revised camshaft, valve springs, and twin SU HD8 carburettors together with a redesigned exhaust system and servo-assisted brakes
In May 1964, the Phase II was quietly introduced and featured a redesigned rear chassis improving the big Healey's notorious poor ground clearance
Consequently, the 1,390 cars built between Oct '63 and May '64 have retrospectively become known as the 'Phase 1'
This example is finished in Colorado Red over a black leather interior with matching black hood and sits on chrome wire wheels
In current ownership since 2006, it was subject to a full ground up restoration by Graham Goodall in early 2000s
Supplied with its BMIT Certificate, original buff log book, and invoices including recent clutch salve and master cylinder replacement in April 2025
In very good condition all round, this rare Phase 1 would make an ideal introduction into the friendly world of the 'Big Healey'
