Description

Pavilion Gardens | Buxton, Derbyshire 9000 - 11000 Registration No: HFV 656E Chassis No: 120541DN MOT: T.B.A Fitted with 'one-of-one' Triplex Sundym, toughened, heated side screens Desirable manual gearbox with overdrive example Finished in Navy Blue with a patinated Oxblood interior In current ownership for 40 years and offered with current V5C document Synonymous with the swinging '60s, the MKII has, at least until relatively recently, been Jaguar's most widely admired saloon. Featuring notably slimmer roof pillars than its MKI forebear, the newcomer was as airy on the inside as it was elegant on the outside. Comprising a monocoque bodyshell equipped with independent coil-sprung front suspension, a well located live rear axle and disc brakes all round, it could be specified with a 2.4, 3.4 or 3.8-litre version of Jaguar's race-proved XK engine. The interior was quintessentially British with its sumptuous leather-covered seats, polished wood facia and door cappings, comprehensive instrumentation and impressive row of auxiliary toggle switches. The attention to detail and build quality of the MKII were remarkable for the price - these cars punched above their weight. First registered in Blackpool on April 5th 1967 (or so its HFV 656E number plate would imply), this particular 2.4 litre, manual / overdrive example reputedly owes its unique specification to Mr Reginald Sydney Harris. A senior employee at Triplex, Mr Harris is understood to have uprated the Jaguar with its bespoke heated element side windows as part of an extensive restoration that he undertook during the late 1970s. Seemingly done with the famous glass manufacturers blessing, the panes in question all carry the British Institute of Standards Kitemark. Having fond memories of driving a MK2 in the 1960s, the vendor jumped at the chance to acquire HFV 656E when he happened across it forty years ago. Sparingly used since then, the Jaguar has nonetheless become a much loved member of his family. Only being offered for sale as part of a downsizing exercise, this one-off Triplex Car is bound to cause a stir at Jaguar meetings. Accompanying paperwork includes a buff logbook, V5C Registration Document, 1985 Bill of Sale and numerous invoices.
