Description

This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Classic Sale at Wheeler Dealer Live 2025 on Sunday the 1st of June, Bicester Motion, OX26 5HA.
Launched by Morris-Commercial in 1949 and produced until 1961, the J-type Van followed the emerging trend of having forward controls and sliding doors on each side
The Morris J Van (Estate) was used extensively by the Post Office and they were a common sight finished in their signature bronze green with black rubber wheel arches, white lettering on the doors and a full colour Royal Crown on each side
Benefiting from a sympathetic restoration, this right-hand drive example is based on a vehicle under the control of the Telephone Manager, East Midlands Area, Leicester and would have been used for planning meetings
It retains many original features including the tables used to display engineering drawings, comfortable seating for local councillors, ladders, period fire extinguisher etc.
It also retains its original BMC 1,476cc side-valve petrol engine and 3-speed manual gearbox
In good condition, both mechanically and cosmetically, this is an excellent opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts alike
