Description

This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Classic Sale at Wheeler Dealer Live 2025 on Sunday the 1st of June, Bicester Motion, OX26 5HA.
Jaguar's acquisition of Daimler in 1960 also brought with it their exquisite, Ed Turner-designed V8 engine. By installing this 2,548cc 'hemi' into the MkII body shell, Jaguar hoped to create a more exclusive, upmarket car that would appeal to Daimler's more traditional client base
Otherwise identical to the Jaguar Mk2, it featured all round disc brakes, independent front suspension and a Panhard rod-located live rear axle. With 140bhp and 155lb/ft of torque on tap from its magnificently smooth and sonorous V8, the Daimler was capable of 115mph
This handsome example was registered new by Steels of Bristol Ltd and it's accompanied by the original service book and host of previous MOT certificates with some dating back to the late 1970s
Presented smartly here in Opalescent Silver Grey with red leather, the interior appears original except perhaps for the headlining and is all the better for it, the rich 1960s leather scent being near impossible to replicate
Currently displaying just under 40,000 miles on the odometer, this would make a great entry level classic at about half the cost of the equivalent Mk2 Jaguar
