Jaguar Mark V
The Mk V11 first made its debut in 1950, utilizing the XK 120 DOHC engine producing 160 BHP in standard form. The “M” didn’t appear until 1954, launched at the British International Motor Show. High lift camshafts were introduced, increasing output to 190 BHP. The M was instantly recognizable with its chromed vertical slatted covers fitted below the headlights. Such was the success of the “M” it went onto win the Monte Carlo Rally in 1956, its final year in production. This particular example was supplied new through Bryson Motors, Melbourne, Australia where it resided until 2020. Having had a previous nut and bolt chassis off restoration, it went on to form part of a static collection at the former home of Sir William Lyons, no less. Recently undergone a mild recommissioning service at Jaguar specialist Monktonhall Garage, Edinburgh. Engine is silent on start up, drives tight with smooth with positive gearchanges, as expected for a car that has underwent such in an in depth restoration. Maintains excellent oil pressure and temperature in Edinburgh traffic. Comes with its Jaguar Heritage certificate, correct period factory handbook and Jaguar workshop manual. Whilst there is some evidence of surface micro blistering to the coachwork, this does not detract from the overall appearance and deep luster of this absolutely solid corrosion free glowing example. Offered at circa one third of the current restoration cost. May P/X. Offered on behalf of the local owner.
