Full Body-Off Restoration
"Well, that's most certainly a 'Shmoo Car' chaps..!" ..is what was said when the owner of this G-G-G-GORGEOUS Cerbera asked if Shmoo Automotive would help to find a new owner for this lovely car. It's certainly one of the best, overall examples that has been on the website over the years. Details of the restoration are set out below.
A long-term project that's been carried out over the past 5 years, and a car that he's owned for over 8 years. The owner before that was the man who has just painted it for him. He owned the car for around a decade.
Overview of the work carried out.
Full restoration on TVR Cerebra S86 UAH

All new brake pipes. Brake callipers have been refurbished with new seals using AP Racing OE parts and painted yellow with black writing.
The front brake discs are TAR-OX, £800 at retail, all new brake pads and fitting kits.

Underside of the body cleaned up and painted in satin black stone chip. All heat reflector matting, bonnet, bulkhead, exhaust tunnel, inner wings and transmission tunnel have been replaced and supplied by John @ Chimaera parts online. This matting consists of an inner woven fibre blanket for acoustic damping, a reflective outer surface, and a heat-resistant blanket that can withstand temperatures of up to 380 °C.
Interior
Finished in grey leather with blue stitching gear and handbrake covers. Navy blue carpets with yellow stitching. New yellow cone speakers, yellow dials. Leather work was cleaned up and restored where required. The odd small blemish, but it's very nice. New door seals, so those need some bedding in. Alpine stereo with an iPhone lead. New immobiliser, refurbished alarm module with X1 Meta key fob, and x2 new Fobs all working and supplied by HF Solutions. Refurbished door module with the latest software from Paul Smith, and refurbished steering module.
Engine/Drivetrain/Mechanical
The engine was stripped right back to a short block, so crank and pistons are original, but as you'll see from the photos of this area, the pistons and liners were in excellent condition. The engine had a full gasket rebuild. Cylinder heads went to Saunders Motorworks in Southampton to be skimmed and have new valves, new valve seals and new valve guides fitted. Tappets were shimmed as required. Oil/water pump rebuilt, new Oil Pump/Aux shaft replaced, along with any parts needed in this area. Also, a new power steering pump and drive replacement. Replaced the timing chain. From front to back rubber fuel pipes were replaced, and a new fuel pump was installed. New 16 row oil cooler, and new oil cooler hoses. New alternator and refurbished starter motor. Throttle bodies, rebuilt with new shafts and brass butterflies, supplied by Lawfield Engineering. Fuel injectors all tested and cleaned. New Lamba sensors, HT leads and bosch coil packs.
Various other sensors and switches were replaced. Short induction pipes fitted, ACT carbon airbox blanking plates and oil catch tanks fitted to the air boxes. Whirlwind ECU chip replaced for induction and cooling mapping, for short hoses and bringing fans on slightly earlier. The Engine has been fully tuned and set up by Andy Mcloughlin @ APM Automotive.
The Gearbox has been fully rebuilt by Competition Transmission Services, as recommended by Andy Mcloughlin. New bearings, selectors and bulk rings, etc.
New Genuine AP racing clutch.
New clutch master slave cylinder and new release bearings, and braided hoses.
No expense spared, and many, many hours spent trying to get everything working as it should.
All the usual suppliers were used, ACT, Powers Performance, Racetech, Motaclan etc, with a raft of invoices that record all of the parts bought, and work undertaken by engineering specialists.
Andy Mcloughlin has checked the car and been very helpful as the project progressed, and as he has said recently on Facebook, "It's as close to a new car as you can get".
Andy did a final build inspection on the car in May and did a final set-up for the owner. He is putting together a final inspection report on the car that will confirm that it has been built correctly, as per the correct factory finish and standards.
Being advertised and sold on behalf of the owner.
Please contact Ed if you'd like to discuss the car further.
