The Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Edition 507

With the C 63 AMG ‘Edition 507’, Mercedes-AMG specifically addressed ambitious sports drivers who "value high-calibre technology and a combination of exclusive design and equipment details." - according to the press release at the time. As a saloon, the Edition 507 sprinted to the 100 kph mark in just 4.2 seconds. The top speed of all variants was electronically limited to 280 km/h, whereby the ‘Edition 507’ models were already equipped with the AMG Drivers Package as standard. The modified engine internals of the AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine are responsible for the power increase to 373 kW (507 hp) at 6800 rpm: the forged pistons adopted from the SLS AMG, together with new connecting rods and a lightweight crankshaft, ensure a weight saving of three kilograms. The reduced inertia benefits the agility of the eight-cylinder naturally aspirated M 156 engine, which impresses with even greater torque. The maximum torque also increases by ten Newton metres from 600 to 610 Newton metres at 5200 rpm. The titanium grey painted intake manifold serves as a distinguishing feature for the more powerful V8 engine. A new engine management system rounds off the drive-side measures.

From the outside, the C 63 AMG ‘Edition 507’ can already be recognised by numerous exclusive design features: first and foremost the bonnet - it originates from the former C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series. Two openings in the striking aluminium bonnet help to dissipate the engine heat. New AMG light-alloy wheels in cross-spoke design with 235/35 R 19 tyres at the front and 255/30 R 19 tyres at the rear are another exclusive feature of the ‘Edition 507’. The AMG light-alloy wheels in particularly lightweight forged technology were available in two versions: painted titanium grey with a high-sheen finish or matt black with a high-sheen rim flange. Another new feature on the exterior was the AMG sports stripes in matt graphite grey above the side sill panels. The spoiler lip on the boot lid, the exterior mirror housings and the surrounds of the radiator grille and daytime running lights are all finished in high-gloss black. Darkened headlights also ensure an emphatically sporty appearance. The designo magno platinum exterior paint finish was available exclusively for the C 63 AMG ‘Edition 507’ on request.

The C 63 AMG ‘Edition 507’ comes with an even more powerful AMG high-performance composite braking system as standard. Composite brake discs measuring 360 x 36 millimetres are used on the front axle. The advantages of the composite design include greater stability and reduced shielding behaviour. The composite discs also weigh less. The lower unsprung masses result in advantages in the response behaviour of the spring/damper elements. With composite technology, the brake discs are connected to an aluminium pot via eight cast-in retaining arms. The result is a homogeneous expansion of the friction ring under high loads. The fully ventilated and perforated brake discs are decelerated by 6-piston aluminium fixed callipers on the front axle and 4-piston fixed callipers on the rear axle. The brake callipers are painted red all round. The decidedly sporty and functional interior of the C 63 AMG is even more dynamic and exclusive in the ‘Edition 507’. There was a choice of three different trim variants: designo leather porcelain/DINAMICA, designo leather black/DINAMICA and designo leather black. In the designo leather/DINAMICA upholstery, the light-coloured contrasting top stitching creates attractive accents. The AMG Performance steering wheel in Alcantara has a 12 o'clock marking. The selector lever of the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission with DINAMICA cover features an AMG emblem. The bright contrasting top stitching can also be found on the steering wheel and selector lever bag. In the instrument cluster, red applications serve as visual differentiation from the other C 63 models. The trim elements in high-gloss black piano lacquer finish and the ‘Edition 507’ badge in the trim element on the passenger side round off the exclusive, high-quality interior.
