The Perfect Everything Car
Congratulations, you've looking at what is almost certainly the best value car that can do all things.
I've had my GTI for about 5 years, and loved every minute. Having driven over 40 different makes and models of car for work and completed a masters degree in mechanical and automotive engineering, I can say for certain that this very exact spec of model of Golf is the optimum point when considering almost all imaginable relevant criteria. Let me tell you why:
This age of Golf has buttons for EVERYTHING, but also a touch screen if you prefer
This GTI has the performance pack, so it has the extra 10hp above others of its age, but more importantly it has a superb limited slip differential and better brakes, gloss red brake calipers with GTI embossed on the front 2.
The wheels are crucially 18 and not 19inch, which affords a better ride quality whilst still being very responsive in corners.
The car is specced with the dYnAudio stereo and equaliser, which is superb and features a subwoofer specially designed to fit INSIDE the spare wheel.
Another great addition is the tilt and slide glass sunroof with sunshade, which allows all the heat to escape on hot days and is a great party piece for all to enjoy. Still fully sealed and working well.
Another absolutely superb option is the Magnetorheological (adjustable) dampers which allow the car to ride like a Citroën or BMW on cue.
Also included features that I'm not certain whether they are options:
Front fog lights
Bend lighting (the headlights follow the steering at night). This is an absolute game changer for night driving on country roads.
Auto levelling LED lights
Dual zone climate control aircon
No lane departure warning or steering
Radar guided cruise control
Built in Satnav
Heated wing mirrors
Under front seat storage
Heated front seats
Configurable driving modes
2 SD card slots for music
CD player in glove box, although I don't think I've ever used it
Bluetooth music and calling
Now that we've got the spec covered, let's talk about the capabilities of the car. I have in this car:
Carried 5 people plus luggage for a weekend
Driven from the West Midlands to up past Inverness in a day and felt absolutely fine
Almost kept up with a friend's modified WRX STI around Scotland and Wales
Commuted to work (country lanes and motorway)
Carried the family around the country in comfort
Taken 2 people and 2 mountain bikes all over the place (comfort mode allows the car to deal with dirt roads without shaking anyone about).
Achieved over 50mpg more than once (with 230 petrol fed horses ready to go, that's pretty much unheard of)
I've serviced the car in excess of the required schedule.
The clutch slave cylinder required replacing, so I also replaced the entire clutch and flywheel assembly whilst at it
The wheels are original, but have been stripped and premium powder coated with metallic flake silver to give them a much longer, shinier, more aesthetically pleasing life
The interior is in excellent condition, and the paintwork is as good as can be expected for a car of this age.
I am sadly selling to get an estate for the growing household.
