Overview
By now, we’re all aware of the GR Yaris. But don’t let familiarity breed contempt as there’s a lot to take in. Toyota’s pocket rocket was developed by Toyota GAZOO Racing and Tommi Mäkinen Racing. Built as a homologation model for the next Yaris WRC car, it combines motorsport technology with everyday usability and launched in 2020 as Toyota’s second global GR model after the Supra.
Unlike the standard Yaris, the GR features a bespoke three-door body with a lower roofline, a wider stance, and lightweight construction using carbon-fibre polymer and aluminium panels. Every aspect was designed with performance in mind, focusing on aerodynamics, weight distribution and agility. The chassis combines Toyota’s GA-B and GA-C platforms, allowing the fitment of a sophisticated double-wishbone rear suspension and the new GR-FOUR all-wheel-drive system.
The GR-FOUR system allows adjustable torque distribution between the front and rear wheels, while Torsen limited-slip differentials included in the Circuit Pack further improve handling.
It’s powered by a 1.6-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine, which in factory form produces 257 bhp and 265 lb-ft of torque.
This one, however, benefits from a Litchfield Motors Stage 1 remap, giving the GR 320 bhp, and is coupled to the factory's six-speed manual gearbox. It’s also had their Nitron suspension package fitted and has very low miles. Coming to market in lovely condition, it’s a GR Yaris with all the right bits. We certainly would.
