Description
The ultimate normally aspirated GT Porsche? OK, for many that’s always going to be a 911 GT3 RS, but make no mistake, it is highly unlikely that Porsche will ever make another car like this. Out of production now, and with confusion and delay surrounding the incoming Boxster/Cayman line-up in terms of electric v ICE power, plus ever more draconian emissions and safety regs, the odds are stacked against a pure driving machine like this.
Sure, there might be a GT4 RS, but it certainly won’t feature a normally aspirated, 4-litre 493bhp, or weigh in at 1,415kg, thanks to carbon panels and thinner glass. Likewise, will it have specially developed, adjustable suspension ball-jointed all round, or carbon ceramic brakes, fabulous magnesium wheels, Club Sport and Weissach Packs as options? Never say never, but we can’t help but feel that this is the last of the line, the end of an era, a car that still puts simplicity over tech, to the point that the Cayman 718 RS reminds more of an old school RS, like the 964 RS, than a contemporary of the tech tour de force 992 GT3 RS, with its active aero and on the fly active suspension.
Lean, Green and Mean
With that in mind, we are pleased to offer this rather fabulous 1 owner example, that has covered just 1,783 miles from new. It really is all about the spec at this level, and we think this car has a dream specification.
Paint to sample is a big thing with Porsche at the moment, as clients seek for individuality, so it’s no coincidence that Porsche GB has recently launched the new GT3 FA inspired by Ferdinand Alexanders personal Oak Green Metallic Porsche 911, finished in a modern interpretation of the original colour.
But a GT4 RS finished in the original shade of oak green metallic as PTS option? We think that’s a pretty rare option, particularly when combined with the 20in satin, white gold metallic, forged magnesium wheels and full carbon exterior package, it really does look very special indeed. And indeed, the optional specification continues as listed below amounting to £44,000 worth of additional factory options.

On The Road
The engine fires with an aggressive wummph! and from that point you know that it’s the soundtrack to something very special, the lightweight internals and solid lifters of the GT3 RS derived engine potentially revving to 9000rpm. Combine this with GT4 RS specific shorter gear ratios, and you have a car that always feels alive, making the most of the engine’s performance. Given enough road, it will hit 196mph in seventh gear, whilst zero to 60mph arrives in 3.4 secs. The engine note is orchestral and naturally aspirated without any enhancement.
On the move, it’s ‘on it’ all the time, steering is seemingly by thought alone, the handling is flat, enhanced by the low centre of gravity of the mid-mounted flat-six engine, it moves of-a-piece, devoid of any obvious inertia or weight to manage, and the ride and suspension are just the right side of compliant, its compact dimensions inspiring more on road confidence than its bigger GT3 RS brother. In short, one of the very best engine and chassis combinations, at any price.
