My intention was to build the ultimate road going M2. After having driven the M2 CS and Litchfield M2 CS (excellent car), I could not justify the price disparity over the standard competition and knew with some considered modifications could elevate the standard car to equal if not exceed the CS.

After a 12 month search I found the perfect base car. With just one fastidious owner from new, only 21,500 miles with an exceptional maintenance history and factory specification to include Plus Pack, Comfort Pack, Harman Kardon, the all important 2NH M Sport big brake package and in Hockenheim silver.

This car had been clearly cherished and had been serviced every 6 months irrespective of mileage including a diff oil change every 5,000 miles. I have kept up this service schedule despite adding less than 4,000 miles over the next 2 years. I have stacks of supporting documentation.

Since purchase, a further £18,000+ has been invested in carefully selected upgrades to create what I consider to be the ultimate fast-road M2 Competition. My objective was never to build a stripped-out track car or simply chase a headline power figure. I wanted to retain everything that makes the M2 such a great car while significantly improving its performance, chassis, suspension, braking, sound and appearance.

During my ownership, the car has been maintained by respected BMW M specialists DRW Performance and has just been serviced by DRW, including another differential oil change.

The car is stored in a heated garage, is immaculate inside and out and has recently received brand-new genuine BMW OEM rear discs and new EBC Bluestuff pads all round. It is not driven over the winter months.

There are to many upgrades to list, thus if you are interested please call me and I will run through them all and you can decide if it is for you.. A brief overview summary:

Performance

Performance upgrades include:

• Hybrid turbochargers and upgraded air filters

• Upgraded S55 crank hub

• Miltek sports catalytic converters and OPF delete

• FP Motorwerkes unequal-length exhaust (sounds almost standard at idle, epic when pushed with zero drone at any revs, which was a must for me)

• Bootmod3 software with three selectable performance stages plus exhaust maps

On its highest setting, the car has been professionally dyno tested at 631 bhp and 553 lb-ft, with the official printout. The three maps mean there is no requirement to run the car at maximum output. It can be used on a lower-power setting for normal road driving, with the full performance available when wanted. I personally run it at 580bhp which is the sweet spot in my opinion. I run the exhaust ‘pops and bangs’ at minimum, however you can turn it into a gatling gun if you so wish. I tried 3 different exhausts (including Akrapovic) before settling for the FP Motorwerkes.

Chassis & Suspension

Just as much attention has been paid to the chassis as the engine. The car features a Suspension Secrets Fast Road Handling Kit with KW Variant 3 adjustable dampers/coilovers, specifically set up as a fast-road rather than track package. The suspension was chosen and set up to improve body control, steering response, balance and composure while retaining proper road-car usability. This is deliberately a car developed for a great B-road rather than a compromised track car. Virtually every suspension component has been upgraded.

Braking

The factory 2NH M Sport big brake package has been further enhanced with:

• EBC two-piece floating front discs

• Brand-new genuine BMW OEM rear discs

• New EBC Bluestuff pads all round

Wheels & Exterior

The exterior upgrades include:

• BBS CI-R alloy wheels

• Full CT Carbon exterior kit

• CS-style aluminium bonnet

Original Parts & OEM Wheels

Importantly, I have retained all of the original BMW parts removed during the build and these will be included with the car. There are over £3K in parts alone. This includes the original M2 Competition alloys, which have been refinished in Hyper Silver. I also have 2 brand new Michelin PS4s (BMW* rated) and 2 part worns at a minimum 4.5mm tread depth. These are 275/35/19 and the intention was to replace the existing 265’s when they wear out. I never got to this point, hence they will be included. The next owner therefore has the option of enjoying the car exactly as it is while retaining considerable flexibility to return much of it to factory specification in the future.

Reason for Sale

The project is now complete and the car has become exactly what I originally set out to create - my interpretation of the ultimate fast-road M2 Competition. Unfortunately, I have other cars and the M2 simply isn't getting the use it deserves (and I need a new project, as I have the ‘illness’ many of us like-minded people have).

That is the only reason for sale. It took me almost a year to find the right base car and considerable time, thought and money have subsequently gone into developing it. No corners have been cut; the modifications were selected to work together as a complete package rather than simply to produce a headline power figure.This isn't a car I need to sell, and I would much rather it went to an enthusiast who understands and appreciates what has gone into creating it.
