The engine was fully rebuilt and tuned by Stan Stephens in Kent at a cost of over £2000 and was carefully run in prior to being locked away in my garage and covered only 2000 miles. Sadly I cannot locate the paperwork for this but it was to stage two spec at least. The exhaust is Jollymoto, brakes are EBC, tyres Bridgestone Battlax and the wheels were freshly powdercoated. Electrics were also working fine. I have not attempted to start the bike since storage as inspection would be recommended to preserve the condition of the parts.
The paint job is Dream Machine in Kevin Schwantz Lucky Strike colours – quite a rare combination – and save for a few blemishes it presents very well. The frame is straight and polished, it will sparkle with some elbow grease. I have a full set of spare fairings and a fuel tank which are available separately should the buyer be interested.
The bike was imported from Japan in 1994 and and bought by its previous owner (a very good friend of mine) in 1997. I acquired the bike in 2000, it is fully UK registered and in my name. Much of the work on the bike during my ownership was carried out by Taymar Racing in Kent, with machine work completed by Stan Stephens as explained.
I ran-in the new engine very carefully and had a couple of summers good use out of it (always on street, sadly its never seen a track). The power band was incredibly wide and even with my limited talent it would surprise sports bikes with considerable more muscle. When the fuel leak sprang I sourced a spare tank to repair, but life and a move to London took over and the bike has sat waiting for attention ever since.
Family commitments and a small collection of classic cars have finally conspired to force me to admit I will unlikely get this back on the road, so it's time for someone else to give it the attention it deserves. It'd make a great track machine.
As mentioned, it was running superbly when put away but this was over ten years ago. As such this needs to be treated as a non-runner and restoration project, but it's an excellent basis for a what will be a rare and desirable machine when completed. Values on these classic two-strokes are on the up.
The bike is stored in Surbiton, west London and available for cash on collection only. If you have any questions I'll be delighted to try to answer them. Many thanks for reading.
