RE: SOTW: BMW 735i (E23)
Discussion
I had one as a company car in 1984.
Excellent car in every respect (mine was metallic black with smoked windows).
Handling great for a big car, gearbox beautiful, ultra-reliable, but expect 17mpg, so best on company expenses or mileage allowance.
I wouldn't buy one now, simply because of fuel costs.

Love barges, perhaps not this particular one. Amazing how cheap old cars are in the UK, they would be selling that for at least $6000 Australian down here, even in that nick. First time I've read a car ad from top to bottom - reckon this is the perfect car for those guys at Wheeler Dealers to have a go at. Sat in one of these a while back whilst car shopping, white with black 'buffalo leather' but it had over 200,000kms on the odo and was a bit out of my price range. Love the old 7's though.

Could be good, or very very bad. Perhaps a bit too much STS (Shiny Tyre Syndrome). Then I spotted this. 2.5K for this stunning car. Unbelievable.

These are just the worst car ever. The M30 engine has serious nikasil issues. Stay well away, the M30 engine is a disaster waiting to happen. The handling is just wayward, you can barely get around a corner in the dry, don't even consider driving in slightly moist conditions.
Lethal.
Of course this is all crap, I'm just trying to keep demand down.

If she did know her cars, she'd know that it was a 3.2 litre engine in the 733i, not a 3 litre

I like these, and always have. I prefer the facelift ones to the slightly sharkier earlier cars too.
Despite what the advert says, these had a ZF4HP22E automatic transmission which was definately a FOUR speed! A similar unit was used by Jaguar in 3.2 and 3.6 litre XJ40 cars, though without the switchable modes.

Like these beemers! I had the 5 series on an E plate, a 527e in black, a lovely car. Always wanted a 635 csi though, but could never afford it. These days BMW seem to make very average looking cars compared with the early shark nose cars. Give me a mint 90s 6 series over the new one any day!
