Middle Lane Drivers, Do they Ever Notice?

Way back when I used to do a lot of miles I'd play the orbiting game, I'd overtake them and pull back in to L1, then subtly slow so they would slowly pass me, then I'd speed up a little and overtake them again and repeat until they realised what was going on.
I managed 7 laps of one car once before they cottoned on.
I got slated a few years ago for suggesting and doing this trick.I managed 7 laps of one car once before they cottoned on.
Guess times have changed and it is ok now.

Just cruise past them in the near side lane. I only come out of L1 to overtake L1 vehicle etc
Me as wellAs long as my speedo is 70 or less, i have no qualms about zipping along in L1,
I did try once to see what staying in L2 or L3 felt like... hated it
Back to L1 except to pass slower traffic and then back to L1
If I'm in lane 1 and lane 3 is busy I'll sometimes undertake.
Sometimes before overtaking I'll flash my lights but that is always ignored because MLMs never look in their rear view mirror.
Very rarely after overtaking and moving to lane 1 do they move to lane 1, even though they are generally staring straight ahead and can see what I've done.

I've learnt to appreciate lane-hoggers, particularly on four-lane stretches of the M25. I get lane one all to myself often for minutes at a time, allowing me to make excellent progress (at legal speeds of course).
A few times, looking in the rear view mirror.Lane 4 is rammed
1-3 empty!

Drove from the North East to Essex and back yesterday. Left home at 6am returned around 8.30pm. A19 to the A1, 2 lanes on the A19 so none spotted, 3 lane stretch on the A1 hundreds counted all the way to the M11, as it gets to 3 or 4 lanes near Stansted they're back in droves! M25 to Essex still there!
Return journey much the same, drivers completely oblivious of an empty inside lane, just happily sitting in the middle at 50-60 mph. One near Peterborough even leaning his head on his hand nearest the drivers window.
So frustrating, I'd happily love the camera network to send automatic fines of cars just sitting there causing other drivers to overtake or worse undertake!!
If they are in the middle lane hogging it they are not the type of person to notice and even if they do I would imagine they would say well there is another lane you can use. I think the general standard of driving in the UK is terrible, especially on the motorways.
I drive to Munich a couple of times a year and down to the Alps at least once.
Driving out of the eurotunnel and up the M20 after a few weeks on the autobahn (and even the Autoroutes in France), not only does it feel very slow, but people appear to be paying far less attention.
I also drive an old defender and will generally chug along at 65 (I try to avoid motorways at all costs in it). The people I find most annoying are the ones who constantly slow down and speed up for no reason.
Many people seem to take real offence to being overtaken by a defender, so they then overtake me, but within a few miles I’m back behind them again as they’ve slowed down to 60 (or worse, they’re sat in the middle lane doing 60).
I quite agree. I am sure others will say I am wrong, but from talking to people, I believe the last few year’s obsession with “speed kills” and speeding being the root of all evil, that drivers now believe if they are doing 60 on a motorway - radar cruise on, lane keeping assist on - they are therefore “driving safely”, and because they are so bored, just play on their phones, or just “switch off” and pay no attention at all to what is going on around them.I drive to Munich a couple of times a year and down to the Alps at least once.

Driving at 150mph on an autobahn and you have to actually concentrate - meaning you are far more aware of others and can drive accordingly.
Having driven the M1 south and the M25 on Saturday, the number of cars sitting in lane 3 of 4 and 4 of 5 was astonishing - miles of queues behind them. I flashed a couple in a vain attempt to alert them to three empty lanes to their left, but just got the finger as I went past later.
Very odd.

No, apparently its really dangerous and kittens will die and the heavens will fall. Its all laid out on page one how lethal it is.
Never heard or thought of it before, LOVE IT !! Especially as it seems to annoy the “brake” types on this forum. Absolutely going to do some orbiting on my next journey !!On the M6 headed south last week, just north of Birmingham.
MLM holding up the traffic like a moving chicane.
When it was my turn to squeeze past in L3 I looked over at him.
He had one of those window blinds for protecting babies but stuck on his driver's door window. So not just ruining his vision out to his right but I'd imagine that his door mirror was pretty useless.
I've been driving up and down this country and abroad for 40 odd years in cars, vans, lorries and on motorbikes so it shouldn't surprise me but....
What an absolute cock, limited visibility which obviously didn't matter as he was too busy chatting to his passenger and waving his arms around.
It's not an extension of your living room !

Interesting to see people complaining about the middle-lane hogging, which is undoubtedly poor driving, but is basically just a bit lazy.
Obviously it is ok to complain, but some make themselves look stupid, when they describe their revenue behaviour (orbit and reverse orbit nonsense) and various undertaking stunts. Obviously these are dangerous and should not be done, let alone boasted about or emulated.

This was a favourite past time of mine as well. I even had one lady once who simply would not go in lane 1 or 3 on the motorway. This was around 2200. Motorway fairly light. I did the loop think for about 4 times. No movement from her.
So I got in the middle lane I front of here. I slowly decelerated down to about 40. Wouldn’t shift in to the outside lane to overtake wouldn’t move to the inside lane.
fking morons. I would so love to be a traffic cop. I wouldn’t give 2 sh*ts if you went past me at 85 so long as you weren’t driving dangerously.
I would take great pleasure in pulling every single middle lane hogger over for every hour of every shift.
I wonder if slowing to 40 on the motorway in lane 2 on front of someone might be dangerous. So I got in the middle lane I front of here. I slowly decelerated down to about 40. Wouldn’t shift in to the outside lane to overtake wouldn’t move to the inside lane.

Were you seeking to frighten this person? Perhaps they thought you had malicious intent.
After all, you circled 4 times then slowed down to 40 in front of her. Hardly something to boast about.
Who deserves the "moron" label in this story?
Best time to punish and educate the middle lane morons is when its raining or the roads are wet.
Overtake them then sit in front of them for a while jetting their pristine vehicle with filthy road st.
Usually results in them taking avoiding action and moving to the correct lane but if not this merely confirms they are totally oblivious cocktards and there is absolutley no hope whatsoever for such sub species.

You mean go into the middle lane, while not overtaking? What does that make you? Overtake them then sit in front of them for a while jetting their pristine vehicle with filthy road st.

A malicious MLM?
Your moral high ground just caved in.
