Wells Vertige - New British sportscar
Discussion
It seems that the Emira is not the only British sportscar to be launched this week:

NA motor, small, only 850 kg and manual gearbox. A pity that no main stream manufacturer can or wants to offer something with similar specifications for that price.

Superb effort and a total surprise when opening the link. A very welcome counterpoint to all the flashy over sized status symbols we usually see these days. Not a one trick pony track day special either. British too.
No connection to me whatsoever but I really wish this enterprise every success.

Well I love it. Perhaps it does look dated, but it's refreshingly different to the dross most manufacturers are churning out at the moment, and I bet it's fantastic to drive. And I think £40k sounds like a bargain. Taking inflation into account, that would have been the same as about £23k in 2000.
If I had £40k burning a hole I'd be seriously tempted to buy one, and it's not often I say that about a new car!

I really like the look of it externally but the dashboard doesn't work at all; the switches, vents and dials are an ugly mis-match and the touch screen isn't needed at all.
Horses for courses. For a car I’m going to use everyday I do care about the interior - it should be comfortable, practical and preferably good quality. Conversely I’m less fussed how it drives and fuel efficiency, safety, reliability and cost are top concerns. For a fun weekend car it is all about how it drives. Really I only need a steering wheel (preferably no PAS), three pedals, a gearstick and the minimum of gauges. The only “extra” I think is really worth having is AC. I like the looks, like the size & weight. The looks remind me of the Vemac RD180 which I really liked, but seemed to evaporate without trace.
For a couple of hundred quid / grams, that's a pretty useful set of functionality.

It's a Sony head unit with Apple CarPlay. So you can listen to all your music and podcasts, take calls hands-free, and have navigation, up to date traffic, speed camera warnings etc.For a couple of hundred quid / grams, that's a pretty useful set of functionality.
