There's lots of news recently about the increase in insurance premiums, but i'm interested in the other end of the scale.

I know there's lots of people reading who likely fit into the ideal customer profile, perhaps with low mileage classic policies, so who thinks they might have the lowest renewal from the past 12 months?

I’m sure there will be lower ones but I’m doing ok with a fully comp policy on a 10 year old 140bhp 1 tonne five door hatch. Just outside south central m25.

£130.

I know its not current, but thought I would chime in with my lowest premium.

This was in 2015 on a 2002 BMW 530d Sport, was 27 at the time - came in at £327 with Tesco.

Its been up-hill since then, different cars but no claims / points in that time.

Currently paying £510 which is roughly what I’ve paid my whole life since I started driving.
33 years ago I paid £500 to insure a fiesta as my first car. I always upgraded my cars pretty much every year and I’ve roughly paid the same price since. Apart from when I was 19 and bought a 2.0 cavalier cdi and I paid £900 when I first bought it which at the time wasn’t bad for my age and then the next year it dropped back to around £500.
A lot better than my 18yr old daughter who’s just paid £1700 to insure a fiesta.
Then again that’s probably cheaper in real terms than I paid.

From memory, our Octavia VRS and Elise are both around £200, which isn't the cheapest but seems eminently reasonable.

The cheapest I ever had was the last time I insured my MGB before taking it off the road and finally getting rid of it, which I think was about £18. That was about ten years ago though.

Probably not the lowest total (£5,500), but £40 to add a supercar (ish) for the best part of a year is pretty good.

My 2007 mx5 2.0 sport cost £123 this year. 3000 miles and no commuting. Not a classic policy.

I am collecting a 2cv on Saturday. My cheapest quote was £97.20… the next was £98.05.

In the end I forked over a whole £111 for a policy which had all the extras, including breakdown!

And that was with 0 NCB, although I do have a lot on another vehicle.

That is less than half what I'm paying for 2005 Boxster S.

Best I had was 2 years ago on my CB600F - 5k miles, commuting TPFT, £86

Take that for a CR postcode!

Shame I paid £4k between the two cars this year however...
