The semi auto rifle with the silencer and zoom scope is a great weapon, perfect for stealth, and with enough power and accuracy to rip through a crowd of pirates if things go pear-shaped.

Which weapon is this? I was hoping I'd be able to do this with the semi-auto sniper rifle but you can't put attachments on it.

The MS16 he is talking about (I think). The 4th Assault Rifle.

This is my main gun. Pretty much an all in one for me. Accuracy to pick of enemies at range. Powerful & quick enough to handle CQB well.

Problem I have with it is, it's so good, I don't see the point in using anything else.

However, most of the time I force myself to use knife & bow only. That's how Rambo would have done it hehe

Aha, I'll have to give that gun a go then, Ta and yes I too prefer to do it the hard way, just seems more satisfying. smile

My other question is if you use a silenced sniper rifle, do you still get the undetected bonus? When you shoot someone any other guards which spot it run around but they don't seem to raise the alarm so not sure if you do or not.

Yes, as long as noone sees you or sets off an alarm.

Yep, I cleared out an outpost last night shooting the guards down from a hill, they were running around panicking but since none of them saw me they didn't sound the alarm, I picked the last of them off and got the 1500xp for clearing the outpost undetected. I already had the achievement for clearing an outpost undetected, it really is a pretty easy thing to do. Going in on foot and using a silenced pistol and a knife is a much harder way of doing it.

Oh I agree and I tackle all the outposts this way but some of the smaller assassination missions I just can't be a*sed, especially as their is usually very little cover so I just take the 2-3 guards out from far then move in for the knife kill on the leader.

Done most of the first island and loving it the more I get involved with it. Highly recommend the SMG and Sniper signature guns.

Oh and one thing...Far Cry 3 has boobs in...another plus point lol

just a pair of camps to attack and then thats the first island sown up. my current favourite other than sneaking about taking them out with sniper rife and then takedowns and silenced gun is to take out the alarm either by sniper or sneak up and disable it, then take everyone out using the grenade launcher.

The only bit im not keen on is the dream fight bits and the ink monster !!!

Might give the SMG's a go later. I've just been using the sniper, assault, handguns and recurve bow so far. Only thing is I would have to pay for one at the moment .. Also need to try the flamethrower at some point.

Just picked this up from the post office as nobody was in to sign for it. my wife has bought it me for Christmas, I just asked if I can play it now and it not be a Christmas gift but she says it will be something to look forward to so I'm going to wait.

Agonising!!!

Got it from Simply Games website - great service , not used them before but they did have my login details so can only assume it's the same people as Shopto who run it.

Game is for PS3, was going to upgrade my graphics card (rest of PC is I7 chip, SSD hard disk, 16 gig ram etc) but since the PS4 is supposed to be released next year I might as well hold fire and just get the PS4.

Being sensible in my old age.

I've been looking for a follow up to Just Cause 2, which is one of my all time my favourite games, for a very long time. The unanimous high praise that you lot have given FC3 leads me to believe that this is what I've been looking for. So, it's down to GAME for me tomorrow.

I've very much enjoyed Fallout3 in the past. And Skyrim had its moments although really it was a stop-gap as I'm really not into that kind of thing (got a whole lot better when I got proficient with ranged weapons like the bow) but what I really loved was Crysis up to (but not beyond) when you meet the aliens, at which point it became a bit st.

Anyway, Far Cry 3 sounds very much like it is up my street. I think this is going to be a must-purchase. Pity it's not on Steam or I'd probably have got it already.
Much as I hate non-Steam DRM (I try to limit what I have installed on my PC), I think I may have to make an exception here.

I love the flamethrower in this game. The way the flame spreads across the environment is fantastic. I ambushed two guys guarding a bridge this evening, a quick half second squirt of fire on each of them to get the kill and all of a sudden the whole wooden bridge was on fire, with the rest of the jungle around it quickly following. What a sight!
