Ah, right. So the chubby, oddly friendly looking for a torturer, bloke who is doing the evils to Theon is some lacky of the Stark family?
We assume so (book readers sod off) Theon said he was a Karstark during the interrogation and considering what Rob did to Lord Karstark a couple of episodes ago the Raven (Speckled Jim) delivering the bad news to him that his Lord has been beheaded must have got delayed somehow, so all will be revealed later. Why did Theon order those children to be killed? I had clean forgotten that the other boy with Legless was his brother.
Finchy (sorry Dagmer Cleftjaw) whispered in his ear that he had to do something to prove he was tough and things escalated, he wanted to be Lord of Winterfell too.Basically chubby friendly torturer (who likes a squeeze of pretty lady bottem ;-) ) is the son of a Karstark, (having read the third book i know where this is going so shant say more.
However i THINK that he is the son of the guy who was holding jamie Lannister and Brienne of Tarth hostage, who was also on Rob Starks Council until recently.
Obviously with the kar stark\Rob unpleasantness last week, it may be kicking off.

I hated Theon. Nasty turncloak who deserved all that could come his way....... but I do feel a bit sorry for him now.
The episode last night made me read up on him and fill in some blanks I had, this then evolved into a session where I forced spoilers on myself about his captor, now I'm more confused but I still don't seem to be able to like him. Rick_1138 said:

The IMDB listing for the actor that plays him suggests what us book readers already know. However i THINK that he is the son of the guy who was holding jamie Lannister and Brienne of Tarth hostage, who was also on Rob Starks Council until recently.

I think they've given those who haven't read the books more than enough clues as to who Theon's torturer is, I will post another hint in spoiler tags for those who haven't spotted the biggest clue yet :
Look at the wooden cross that Theon is attached to, then look at the sigil of Robb Starks chief bannerman. Also remember that said bannerman offered to send his son to Winterfell to take it back from the Iron Islanders.
Although last nights episode was short on action, I loved how it moved various pieces into place for what we know is coming. Loved that they kept Jamies line to Roose Bolton about 'sending his regards to Robb Stark'. Loved the scenes with Daenerys and the Yunkai spokesman, I've never found her that attractive but after last nights episode I'm seeing her in a new light
Like others I detested Theon initially, but after reading about (and now seeing) what he has been put through as a result of his choices it re-enforces him as one of my favourite characters. He certainly has possibly the most personally painful journey so far.

Are we allowed to say who the torturer is? (Don't know how to spookier tag & people keep asking)
Without spoiling however, he is the most evil character in the books in my opinion
The point about people starting to warm to Jamie is a big thing. The characters are not good or evil necessarily (circumstances can dictate their motivations & actions) Cersie for example (evil b
h) is just looking out for her children

Right then. Theon. Who is he exactly, Why's he being tortured and who is doing it to him? I should know, but I can't work it out.
I feel the same! So many plots and different characters - and a whole week in-between each one, sometimes you have to wait two or three weeks for a previous character/plotline to resurface!I know that Theon ordered the deaths of the Stark children, so I am assuming his torture is revenge for this?..

who've had to wait two or four or more YEARS for that...chris watton said:

But he didn't actually kill them, did he. I suppose this Kaarstark fellow owes Theon a huge apology when that fact comes to light.

As said above, even without the book, the clues are there.
I don't like how the character is being portrayed, seems a bit weak.
The last few episodes have been so full of layered book-like story, very very good.
When one watches it back, it will be fun to see how early the subterfuge started.
