I've seen worse laugh

Mind you, that shell will need a LOT of work (money spent on it) if you intend returning it to a stock or as near stock condition as possible. Are pattern floor sections/inner arches etc available to enable you to remove the four link box outs, Atlas tunnel, shock turrets etc....??

Purely out of interest
It is normally thought that its bette financially to buy the finished product rather than restore a wreck
With all due respect, I think this is closer to the latter.
I know RS2's are getting to be very expensive but would a better shell not have been a better starting point

Generally yes.

A mint to almost concours condition RS2 Mk2 will be £15k+ and a commercial shell restoration alnoe of something in the condition of the above will be £5-7k+, plus the cost of all the other bits etc that you may not have to start with.

Of course, that's not always the point, and IMHO if you've got the inclination, determination and time/resources, you can't beat the satisfaction of doing it from scratch and saving another one (whatever the make & model) smile

Done my share, just sayin'

Mini Clubman
BMW 2002 Tii
Countless minis and metros in the 80's
Marina
Talbot
Lotus 7 Twin cam
MG Midget
etc etc
Only one that was "cost effective" was the Lotus 7

No
It was a 1300 saloon in the ubiquitous sandglow (as were about 3 of my minis)
the colour became a joke among friends
I'm over it now and drive an old Volvo Estate, wear slippers, walk the dog etc
