Yeah, it was a bit small really. Would have been lovely as a weekend retreat or such like, but as a main residence, we'd have struggled.

This afternoon we bought a New Build in Exminster, which whilst far from being "Prawny" or a dream house, will be perfect for us as we grow our family and save up for something a little more special.

The rough plan is to live in it for the next 5 years or so, then mortgage it, rent it out to repay for itself, and take the cash to go bigger barn shopping. Or something.

Oh, and to the chap who said I didn't know how this thread worked: Your Mum.
well done! smile

Isn't this they place that belonged to the chap who invented the Segway, and died when he drove one over the edge of his garden path into the river below?
yes Think you're right.
It was the bloke who bought the company who died. Dean Karmen, the inventor, is still alive. He also has a great house;

Didn't realise it was his place though.

Have we seen this one? Drove past it today.

Surprising how little £34m gets you these days in Hempstead.

It's not hard to sell me on a steel/glass staircase but that has to be one of the worst blends of materials I've seen in some time

On the whole, trying too hard and badly matched, could build a much better, much more coherent version for that kind of money yes.

I agree. But the pisser in pic 9 trumps just about everything else though.

I'm struggling to find my favourite picture of the montage. Currently I think it's pic 18 - the 'tropical hat' design of the lake house on the island; love it. Therefore, I can forgive the staircase. And the urinal.
That's one of the weirdest interiors I've ever seen...clearly been done to a very high spec but my god it's got some weird stuff going on in it. Check out the light fittings on the wall in the snooker room...reminds me of a beer serving "lady" from an 1800's tavern.

Recession, what recession. What €10m asking gets you in Dublin.

so many things i don't like about it!! The kitchen looks industrial... there seem to a lot of quite small rooms. The style seems to be all over the place, with some modern and quite clinical rooms, and some really quite grannyish, and some more classical stately home style... front gate looks like a mental asylum... what's with the weird plastic car port area?

gardens and outside areas are generally quite though, you could open them to the public! Still, I've seen a lot nicer grounds in this thread for less.
Classic piece of nouveau riche Irish property design, based on a friend's wife's family and their piles outside Dublin. The houses' style always feels like it's been cobbled together from what they've seen in magazines, without any real thought to how it actually works together.
Yup very typical of Irish property design.....it's right on Blackrock High St too.....opposite the car park for the local shopping centre. Drive you mad getting in and out of the place.

Oh and your gates would probably leftover kebabs dumped in front of them on a Friday and Saturday night.....

What those pictures don't show either is that the DART is at the bottom of the garden too.

€10mil my arse!

How can you spend somuch money and end up with such a bad house?

The only redeeming features are the views and the garage in the last pic.

12,000 sq/ft and only 4 bedrooms! One for the owners, 2 bedrooms for the children and one for the nanny on the ground floor, none for any guests.

The nice thing about building a house out of lego is that its easy to change it.

Its not a huge amount of square footage, but as a weekend bolthole how much more would you need? It would certainly do me, I like the style (and the views).

It would do me as well but £2.25M is a lot for a weekend pad.
