I'm observing a couple of MX5s from a slight distance at the moment, scratching my chin and wondering whether to plunge in, completely just for the hell of it (I can't even man-maths up a justification, it really will have to be an "oh, sod it" moment!)
Go for it, as long as its not rusty you can't lose! PedroB said:
This seems almost too good to be true: MGZT 160

It has 7 months MOT and a month's tax. Yours for £550

Looks great but 'drives ok' seems a bit lukewarm...

Hmmm.
Good job I can't really justify spending £1k+ on that AMG Merc, as it's in my neck of the woods (nearly)
LOCFTM (Even if it is over thread budget)

It does look tired, but it'd be interesting to know how long you could smoke one of these if you concentrated on essential mechanicals and left all the peripheral bits to break (or even removed them pre-emptively...)

Think so too! Nothing gets my goat more than trying to find out where the dealer is or any bad reviews , and when you Google it .. nothing!

My bargain barge has been running well for the past 2 months and 1k miles

Has been great wafting around in a lovely £620 armchair!
Jobs still to do:
Full LHM change for hydraflush
Clean LHM filters
Remove, overhaul and re-fit rear height corrector
New rear tyres, then tyres swapped round so I have new fronts, ok rears then track and balance everything
New fuel filter
damn good detail
New rear washer pump
cambelt (maybe)
epic - those things are going-up in value too, it's rare to see a usable one under £1500 reallyHas been great wafting around in a lovely £620 armchair!

Needs tyres, tax, spring, MOT.Sure it is cheap, but I'd spend the extra £300 on one that doesn't need that work...

Essentially my view not a bad car but the tyres will be £200 odd the MOT could be anybody's guess say £350 with at least a broken spring, which is not a cheap fix and possible exhaust problem. I like that car but at say £950 there are full MOT's MG cars about. Maybe a bit of spannering could reduce that but still £700 to £800 IMO.
i'd have to agree on that one. It's connoisseur spec with no extras ticked. Perhaps if it had a wood steering wheel and personal line interior it would be well worth it.Anyhow, the car needs saving but someone who does care - a nice straight unmolested pre PD example.
