£15M for Carroll good price or not ?

big hit but at least you will save on the wages
Unlikely to get much more I would think. Unless a bidding war starts... <cough!>
£15m...are you on drugs? This is West Ham we're talking about. The deal is £12m plus additional payments if He/West Ham are succesful.

So it's £12m.

You making things up again? There's not even been a story about it, just a tweet from BBCSport, so we don't even know if the £15m is confirmed, yet you seem to have a break down of the entire deal?! confused

Ah yes, only just seen that article, which wasn't available at the time when I first posted about the deal.

Still, even at £12m I think that's an OK price - considering we got Sturridge for that price! How much did Ade cost? £9m?

Well I hope he's successful for West Ham. And if its 12m so what - we don't want him and only West Ham seem to want him so that would be that...

£5m...having a bad day JB? hehe

And no, sorry, £12m is not an OK price for a £35m player.

I seem to remember you all spaffing yourself silly at the thought of getting West Ham to cough up £18m if they wanted to keep him when the loan period runs out...I said then it was bullshine and that West Ham couldn't afford that but no, "it was in the agreement with West ham" we were told.

So much for that agreement.

I have to say I am disappointed that Carroll was not given a chance. I think he could have done a job for us and at 15M is probably better to keep than Borini who is totally unproven.

Loss on Carroll but massive gain on Coutinho.

This transfer window I hope goes better than normal.

It is - if no-one else is prepared to buy him and we can't afford to have him on the bench on his wages.

Me, I'd have him as an option. But apparently he's too expensive for us to just have him as an option. We are evidently not a super rich club...

He should have never been a £35m player in the first place & we don't play the style of football that suits him, but I am pleased he has done well for west ham.

I'm not sure what's so funny? £15m was the only figure reported when I first posted. There was nothing else reported so I couldn't have known it was going to be £12m + additions.

Carroll was never a £35m player - we all said that when he was signed.

The transfer fee for Ade was £5m, plus a £4m signing on fee = £9m (I know maths isn't your strong point, but come on, you should be able to count up to 9 by now).

West Ham are exposing themselves to a potential £15m cost to buy Carrol (we have no idea what these additionals are based on), not really much of a leap from £18m. I seem to remember at the time you were saying there is no way West Ham would pay more than £10m!

Thats not whats so funny...more your assertion that I was "making it up again"...which was itself scratchchin "wrong again".

Always listen to the people who've actually met the subjects in question and not some faceless van driver pontificating on the internet JB.

I'd pay 35m just to rub their names from the LFC record books!

At least Carroll banged a few in for us smile . Shame, I think he would be a great plan B, but there you go.

Keane-esque I'm afraid. Scored goals before he joined us but for some reason just couldn't do it for us. Heskey without his ability to find the net, if you will. wink

So, ultimately a failure, which is a shame. He was a trier like Emile, showed promise and did contribute well in that destructive way... but strikers ultimately need goals right?

The fans loved him because of his effort though and he'll get a warm welcome when he returns to Anfield. I'm sure we all wish him well.

Seems Reina might be off

The Telegraph: Begovic is quoted in Bosnia stating: “I want to start preparing on July 10, with all the players of Liverpool.”

Tony Barrett on The Times - Reports from Bosnia-Herzegovina claim that Liverpool are set to sign Asmir Begovic.
