964 C2 = Happy boy

964 mounts are liquid filled and wear out over time. Think mine are on originals.
993 C4s are rubber so slightly stiffer than normal but not quite RS hard. compared to the old tired 964 mounts they should feel very different.
Driving the car i can feel a bit of slackness back there under load and braking into corners. This will make the car behave like it should without giving vibrations in the cabin.
3 bolts per mount, support engine with a jack, unbolt and replace the mounts one at a time. £250 delivered.
The car is pink sometimes and red others. It definitely needs some paint care. I'm not quite ready for a repaint or wrap quite yet.

Have you checked the engine mounts actually need replacing?! I honestly think the whole engine mount thing is (another) one of those 911uk bulls
t theories. One bloke changes them then feels he has to justify it to all the other posters who go & copy him but don't want to admit they've made not a jot of difference for their financial outlay

Just wouldn't want you wasting your money but if they're needing replaced then why not eh? By the way, just FYI I had my old yellow 993 RS rep set up done by redline racing & it was night & day the difference.
I bought new dampers & springs & told them to change whatever was needed but they reckoned everything was fine & just set it up. Best £1500 I ever spent

Nice one, i'll look them up. It was Kenny Brown who set it up when it had the KW's fitted and polybushed but that was on the old 18" Veloces.
Going to freshen up what i can see needs done and then get it set up properly. Might be going back to some silver Cup1's too as i don't think it will see the track much if at all and i'm not overly keen on spacers!
Rennlist is my 964 haven at the minute, if you ignore the bickering there's quite a lot of good info on there.

Only possibly, but if you track it, you'd be surprised at the amount of movement that occurs. Ive seen some horrific failures, and one or two on mounts that were just shot, as in old 964 mounts.As you say above Rennlist is a haven, and I think I've been on there for about 12 years now...so have seen a bit, and take the maxim better safe than sorry.

Fitted the K&N filter tonight, horrendously easy. Bonus of finding the air box already drilled.
The sound is now exactly as i imagined it. Slurping away and a proper bark from the exhaust. Lovely. unsure if i'll bother fitting the decat now, might try it.
While i was in there i think i have found the source of my oil leak! There seems to be a dent on the corner of the oil filter, can't quite see if it has cracked but i'll get a chance to replace it this week. It's definitely wet so it's a prime candidate.
There's definitely a fair wad of clean oil so it's looking more likely that than an engine leak. Fingers crossed.
Next up is getting a dyno done to see what we are working with and then i'll fit the Steve Wong chip and play with the exhaust setup.

You can see where the oil's leaking here. Defo not coming from the engine, must be filter related i think.

Filter is prime candidate after a service, a sod to remove without dripping oil. Filler caps are a mare, threads are next to useless, mine blew off once, emptied about a gallon over the rear end...last issues are oil feed and return lines, often leak at the fittings end with age, not cheap to replace.
