WOW!! That S1 is stunning - it's probably the only car I've had that I really regret selling.

Having the rest is just damn greedy! hehe

Heres a few of my Series 2 RS Turbo. Lowered 40mm, Stainless steel exhaust (being changed from 4" scorpian box, to custom made box this summer) Other than that, standard.

Thanks in advance for any comments!

yikes

I owned F722 FYB between 1998 ish, and into the noughties. Lovely car, and one that I really miss. Was your dad the one that spent all the money on the car, on the suspension and wheels and so forth?

What years did he own it between? Did he take a lot of engine parts off of the car before selling it, as it was on standard turbo and injectors whilst I owned it. With the RS500 intercooler, it produced a solid 298bhp on Interpro's rollers, which was really good for the spec ... If I'd have know it had internal work done, I'd have maybe swapped ancillaries to regain that power.

I'll find some pictures!!

Thats just the dogs, takes me back to 1991 when I bought G500 NSO from Mike Youngs in Ilford, I looked after that car like my baby, 5 years later some nice A/Hole stole it and it was found in North Woolwich 3 hours later minus EVERYTHING RS...... I cryed when the Police called and had to hand the phone to my girl field at the time because no words could come out of my mouth.....I have had a good few cars since but none where pampered like my RS

Hi Matt.

My Dad owned the Cosworth from 1990-1998. He sold it to a car salesman in Bromsgrove, West Midlands. It has lead quite a colourful life before and after my Dad owned it, it seems! He bought the car in 1990 from a racing car driver called "Chris Hodgetts". Chris owned the car from new, but soon after he purchased FYB, it was stolen and used in a bank robbery. Once he got the car back, he fell out of love with it and put it into storage. My Dad got word of this, offered him £9k and bought it...It had around 21k miles on at the time.

When my Dad got hold of it, it was pretty tidy but did have a couple of marks from the robbery as well as broken sideskirts. Dad replaced the sideskirts and clips, and had the whole car resprayed. Sods law reared its ugly head however, and it suffered a blown head gasket on its first outing! Long story short, over the next 12 months it had a complete overhaul. It had a WRC Escort rally spec head, ringed block, forged crank and rods with WRC oversized pistons, graham goode actuator/turbo & intercooler, uprated injectors, uprated fuel pump, AP racing brakes, fully adjustable koni suspension, polybushed all round and much more. It was dyno'ed at 472hp at the crank, with scope for more. It also had an uprated sound system with a load of amps/speakers etc, and he had RS logos laser cut and fitted onto the door cards. The TSW hockenheims were also fitted by my Dad.

1998 rolled round, and he sold it...He still regrets it to this day! It really was a beautiful example, and was his toy. He put less than 8k miles on it during his ownership. As I said, it was sold to a car salesman in Bromsgrove. I did find the guy who owned it from 2007-2009ish, but like you it seems it was running a different spec, so I would not be surprised if the salesman took off all the goodies before selling it. Unfortunately, the last guy to own FYB had sold it to a breaker as the car suffered a battery loom fire which damaged part of the loom and the bonnet. He also said that it had no uprated sound system and was running standard spec. Seems like it got fettled around with a lot!

Sorry for the hijack OP. Would love to see some pictures Matt!

This thread is turning into Cosworths Reunited biggrin

Fantastic to trace a car's history through the different owners and evolutions through the years.

I'll get some pictures posted this evening.

Devastated to hear that it's colourful life ended in a breakers. frown

Thanks Roger, I can't say the car's in the current condition due to my care and attention initally! Only bought it 13months ago, but I do look after her, this was her coming out of the garage for the first time since September last year. Got a few bits that need doing, and don't want it out over winter, but at the same time, these car's need driving. So once the few bits are done, i'll be driving her much more regularly.
Got to do a new sump gasket, and the inner CV boot has split, so currently spraying grease on the prestine underside of the car. When it's on the ramps being fixed, i'll get some photos of the underside on here.

She goes to the garage next week, so get to drive her again!

Wils82 - when my RS was found after being stolen the nasty piece of work had written "Next time get a decent alarm, Mug" across the tailgate (after the spoiler had been taken!) - I'm not a violent person but that night I would have really hurt that A-hole! - SO LOOK AFTER YOURS, ITS A CRACKER

Some of my F722 FYB pictures as promised. As mentioned above, I owned the car between about 1998 and some time in the early noughties. I sold it to build a dedicated track day car (Peugeot 205), and in due course bought an Escort Cosworth for road duties.
