From the trailer and the things Ive all read about the film, the greatest inaccuracy will be that there was some sort of to the death Senna Prost esk rivalry going on.

Remember this film has to have general appeal and is NOT aimed at purists and F1 1970's nut cases. For a film to find funding, a studio and a release budget there will have to be certain areas of creativity. It won't be Fast a Furious, nor will it be Senna, but it will be very close to the truth and a great deal of f1 knowledge from McLaren and Tyrrell people of the day has been catalogued and used. It will be a great film.

It will be brilliant.

The dream scene will be controversial, not to mention inaccurate, but the rest will be worth it.
I hope so, really bloody hope so.

But that trailer has left me slightly disappointed for exactly the reason Belleair302 has explained above, far too much CGI so that it can appeal to the masses. Hopefully that is just to flog a few extra tickets as opposed to a representation of what to expect, but at the end of the day it is a 'biography' 'action' film.

It will have to be fairly close to the truth...The Rat is still alive and Im not sure he would stay very quiet for too long if it wasnt to his liking!

Eh? I don't understand that. They're trying to make it look real, not intentionally making it look like computer graphics. Unless you mean the mistake Hollywood always makes for me, where they put the camera in impossible positions during CGI sequences, which completely ruins the illusion for me.

At the end of the dya, they use CGI because it's significantly cheaper than building, shooting and smashing up hundreds of F1 cars, or rebuilding entire racetracks. There's no way this film could be made without it.

Exactly that Sir. In a similar fashion to the 'object flying at the screen' in a 3D film...

In that case, I totally agree smile

To be fair, Ron Howard doesn't really do those types of films (as far as I've seen) so I'm guessing (hoping) they've just put a few shots in like that for the trailer but it won't really be that sort of film. I'm hoping it'll have the same feeling of authenticity and attention to detail that Apollo 13 had.

Please.

Dream scene? Do tell me more about that.!?!
Hunt has a dream and "walks through a mish-mash of Cevert and Koenig's accidents", supposedly at the glen.

Cevert's sister not impressed. One would imagine that koenig's family would be similarly unimpressed at a decapitated head on the tarmac...

I think I'm the only one that thinks this looks like a fking abortion.
Terrible accents - the cars look slow - doesn't really work for me.

It certainly has the potential to be a car-crash of a film.

Oh, wait...

whilst i don't like cgi, what is the alternative?
ruin a good number of very valuable historic F1 cars? or build some replica's?

either way would have purists up in arms. those people need to watch a documentary, not a modern film.

yes

I am a bit of a purist in some ways but would rather have a dramatisation based on events from the sport I live and breath than nothing. The fact that I have this in addition to the hard facts documentaries, books, and so on is a bonus.

While the new trailer hasn't addressed any of my recent 'CGI' concerns, I think I'm now starting to get excited about this film again.

In fact once again - I cannot ruddy well wait for it to come out! smile

Plus the very talented Joe Saward has seen a preview, read between the lines if you will;

The last few days have been fairly busy, with a dash to London to see a preview of a movie. I cannot tell you anything more than that because I signed a confidentiality agreement not to give anything away until the world premiere of the movie in London in September. This is apparently what they do in the film business, although I am not sure I understand why. I would have thought that if I wrote that I really liked the movie then some fans would get excited in advance. As it is I can say nothing.

Well the fact they used Easton Neston as Easton Neston (Lord March's home at the time when James raced for Hesketh) shows a good attention to detail that the rest of the film I'm sure continues.

"who's that?"

"That's Niki Lauda, He's just been signed by ferrari..."

Yeah, Hunt and Lauda shared a flat when they were racing F3. They had also raced in 1973 in F1 before Lauda signed for ferrari.

premise ridiculous.

What's the betting that they end up being mortal enemies in the film?
