Is there a limit to how many cars you can own in a certain period?
In July last year I got bored of my 99' Peugeot 306 and got 98' Golf (Sold the Peugeot)
The Golf then was written off 2 months later and replaced with an identical one.
I then fancied something more retro and bought a 89' Ford Sierra in Jan/Feb (Sold the Golf)
Just 3 weeks later I saw a 90' 2.9 V6 version of the same car and decided to buy it (Sold the other Sierra)
The car then broke down and I needed a car to get to work in.. (Still have the 2.9 Sierra
So bought a 00' Rover 75.
The 75 turned out to be dreadful on fuel so changed it for a 04' Rover 45 (Sold the Rover 75)
At this time I also sold elderly friends Alfa which I registered in my name for a short time.
I keep looking at this thread with a view to selling the Rover 45 since I want something more comfortable for my commute but will DVLA allow this?

Quite. It's the car MB should have been building in the mid-late 90s.
Double check the odometer display, mine stopped working. Seems to be a common issue. Aside from a slightly thirsty engine those things are solid and stupidly comfy.
FWD.
Gearbox has a very high failure rate at very moderate mileages from what I understand

My MX5 quest has stalled slightly - the two I was watching from a distance have both made stronger money than I want to chuck at a mild pondering! My fault for looking at the at entirely the wrong time of year! Still keeping an eye out, I'd like to bag a runner for £600-ish and not to have to spend a long day flying and driving to collect (I'm in the South East).
For £600 it will be ropey as hell unless you are very lucky.
Oh, is that the case? I haven't researched it particularly other than the rusty chassis legs. I thought I'd seen a few early ones go through at that sort of money - maybe I got that wrong. I'm not overly hung up on having one, just seemed like a good idea! I could spend more, but it really was just to see if the novelty wore off quickly or not, hence setting the sights low. Might have to rethink the plans then.

Had this been a few weeks ago you could have taken my MkII for only a couple hundred quid over your budget, nice and solid underneath and sound mechanically, just had a couple of holes in the roof and stty paintwork at the front! I'm sure also someone else on here posted up a mkII that he'd purchased for £5-600 with a small-ish dint in the side not long ago. I'm sure if you persevere you'll come up with the goods, prices generally seem to have plummeted on these recently.

Got this today for £500 seems good although I havnt driven it much. 4l sovereign. Plan is to keep it over the summer and sell it on before I go back to Uni. I've already had the "I think I will buy shares in bp" comments but oh well, you only live once. Comments welcome.

Looks a corker - most CSEs over here have either been ravaged by the Swedish winters or ragged by the 18-year-old fresh out of the test centre... I'm looking at a good one of these to a) scratch the Saab itch again and b) take second prize in the 'missing the hot pre-'93 900s boat' contest.

Five hundred pounds. The price of a top spec Ipad. For that. Ludicrous vfm.

There were a few being broken for spares on ebay back when I was looking for a replacement odometer display. The chaps at Vtec Direct in Manchester bought mine from me via ebay to strip for parts.

Indeed. It should also make your inner smile erm smile when someone mentions fuel economy. They're probably dropping half the purchase price a month in depreciation alone on their little crappy 'economical' eurobox.

Very valid point. I think about changing cars then work out how much fuel etc you can get with the extra outlay.

I will own a Legend at some time, they are huuuuge but lovely paces to be. Missus has categorically stated that if I buy a Jag then its grounds for separation! I think in Velominati terms that the equivalent of number of bikes n=s-1 ......

As for the Legend gearbox issues, IIRC its not sudden, you will get a high pitched whining noise for quite a while, down to large locking nuts coming undone I think... long time ago mind!

This looked amazing VFM at £699 but alas I was too slow yet again. The quest continues...

I have totally given up on ebay now. Viewed one car, tried to buy on the spot, seller "lets auction run" and shill bids car to silly money (no doubt "buying" themselves). Seriously tired of these morons.

Where are other bargain hunters searching??

But this is my point about these.

Assuming that's fine apart from the paint... it would cost approx £1000 to sort the paint.

I know you could live with it BUT if you can afford to spend a bit more you could buy one with decent paint and then when you sell it you'd get the same price differential back plus it's a damn site easier to sell a nice looking car.
