Yes, but surely the techniques used in making the new RR can trickle down to your average FF hatch at some point?

That and some of the new hatches are making efforts to reduce their weight, IIRC the Fiesta and the 208 are both substantially lighter than their previous counterparts.

And the new Clio 200 Turbo looks like it’s substantially heavier than it's predecessor ..... and what Renault actually claims. Naughty.

It is interesting to read various opinions on these models. I have actually driven both Clio RS and Fiesta ST and preferred Clio by far. It felt like a better daily driver (Fiesta ST has really stiff suspension - good for circuit but not for local roads) AND more "hot" at the same time (Fiesta has quite a standard 1.6l EcoBoost engine which doesn't have much character to it IMO).

There are things on Clio that I don't like (column-mounted paddle shifters, colour choice, some interior details etc.) but overall, I felt like that extra money compared to Fiesta buys some real value.

True, and from the latest feed back, even with the Cup RS 200T....the slowest around a track.

How the mighty have fallen.

Bit early to say to that extreme, lets see what comes next for Renaultsport wink

That latest Megane 265 ‘special’ paint job and naff stickers just reinforces the consistent downward trend.

Renaultsport now seem to prefer spending money on getting Vettel’s arse to warm the bonnet on a ‘specials’ photoshoot, designing stickers and lustfully thumbing through old Golf GTI brochures.

The next Megane? Want to bet it’s another Clio RS type softer, less capable, GT type thing that will get its arse spanked by the Focus ST and VXR in terms of value and capability?

And we don’t need the standard line that Renaultsport might have load of tricks just around the corner and there are lots of little snippets (especially for the gullible) from Renault management about the great future. It’s not happening.

Ford and Peugeot are the new hot hatch kids on the block.

Because of 1 car they make each they are now top dogslaugh

The megane is still the best/fastest/driver focused hot hatch around

The twingo is top/joint top with the swift in its class

The new clio, well apparently it's not as good as the fiesta to most in the hammering down the road stakes, but obviously Renaultsport had some reason for this. Do you really believe they don't have the capabilities if they wanted/were allowed to?

As for the Red Bull edition. Yes I'm not a fan of paint job specials, but most are at it. Hell, even the 208 GTi has launched a paint job special before it even arrived

My reply did address your original point: 'lets see what comes next for Renaultsport'

Answer: looks like not much.... and now living on past glories.

Strangely enough, I think the Megane R26 and R26 R also had a 'special' paint job, and 'naff' stickers. Both were critically acclaimed.

You're basing your argument on the release of one car. If all the rest of the range becomes all puddingy, I'll admit you have a point. But as for now... jog on.

Really?

The R26 with the LSD, a bit more power, Recaros and suspension tweaks was just a paint job?

The R26R...... just a paint job?

I'll need to do a lot of fast jogging to even get close to you biggrin

I'm quite aware of the technical spec of the Megane Renaultsport thanks. Sorry I didn't spell it all out in my post.

That with a 'special' paint job and 'naff' stickers IN ADDITION to more power, Recaros and suspension tweaks, both cars were critically acclaimed.

Clear?

It was always clear fella, we were only talking about the new 'special' Megane 265 RB8. Paint and stickers only.
