We had a talk and have increased our budget to £7k. A local garage have a nice mazda 2 tamura so we are going to have a look at that tomorrow.l
I run a Mazda3 and have driven 2's when my car has been in the garage. Nice little cars and quite chuckable. Think they have a 1.3 engine and the gearstick is near the dashboard (column shift?).

The only thing I would say is that Mazda's aren't noted for their economy. However, the cars are fun to drive.

My car is actually in the garage tomorrow morning so I may have a 2 to fly around in then. smile

The SR is a bit different - I've seen a number of them driven quite enthusiastically, and apparently they're rather fun.
even the 1.2 isn't that slow, autocar tested it at around 10 seconds to 60..twunts expect anybody in a micra to be an OAP...always get some tit driving up your arse.

I'm looking at these to replace my lasses 206 GTI.. One of these or a Panda 100hp. Hardly any Panda's have ESP so i'll probably rule them out.

Anyone know if the Micra has it?

pretty sure the 160 does - though some say you need esp to predict what a micra driver will do next ;-)

no he walked over £125, but not to worry, the budget has went up to £7k, are you not spending an extra £2k to save £125?

We didn't walk over £125, we walked over the principle.

We went into the dealership, had a look, guy come over, told him we were just looking, we told him we were not sure about buying from then because we've had crap with them in the past, he told us everyone is all new and all the problems are sorted. I asked for a part exchange price for my car as it would determine our budget (at the time), he looked it over said they'd have no problem offering £1000.

It's when he finally sat down to put something on paper and the price dropped to £800. then to £875 after I pushed it. I would of accepted £900, so the garage in-fact lost a sale over £25.

What's worse, while he was dealing with me another potential customer came in to see him, he told them he'd be 10 minutes, when he knew we still had to go for a test drive yet. One we'd been going over the pricing/details for 15 he dropped all interest and gave the impression he wanted to get to his other customer as he knew it was a definate sale... I longer mattered, and that peeved me off even more.

Not that it matters to the OP but 2002-2006 micras are being recalled for a steering wheel fault

I was just about to come in with - good to see that you are keeping with the Renault theme.
Nissan / Renault Alliance and you have changed your car choice again !

Have to say it sounds like for the better.

Good luck with your search

Sounds daft to me. Turning a car that you thought was spot on away because of a £25 principle. Ah well, you're spending an extra £2,000 now so you're bound to get a better car.

Or, you could have had the car that you thought was spot on and a bloody good holiday.

And if you thought the salesman was not being very attentive you should have told him to go and see his customers and pass you onto another staff member, and given them the deal.
