Motorway speeds are so slow these days, probably a U-Turn.

I don't think you'd even under steer. Before it started to run out of grip you'd be off the road.

I agree, you probably wouldn't have time to apply full lock before you're upside down and the Police are shovelling you up off the road.

Err, not sure if this is a trick question but most likely you'd do a big smoky understeery skid off the road and [Martin Brundle]straight to the scene of the accident[/Martin Brundle].

There's only one way to find out for sure though.

I imagine you'd roll, unless the electronics kicked in first.

I had this thought only... What would happen if I did 80mph and put it in Reverse/First or Park in an automatic....

I got as far as 'ruinous'....

I dont think the safety gate would let you go in first or reverse

Trust me on this.....
The car would answer the helm as best as it could and roll onto its bump stops and leave rubber from all 4 wheels. If you manage to catch it or it bounces of a barrier or another car the unwinding springs will send you sliding the other way. Usually you only flip a car if you hit a kerb, or in one spectacular case I heard of the edge of a traffic calming bollard.
Dont try this at home, or on the M1.

It depends what car, what you are doing with the pedals and how quickly you can turn the wheel.
If the car is at a steady speed and steady throttle opening, you could probably expect to understeer until you hit something.

In an auto, you won't even engage park... The safety system built into the trans won't allow it - it would effectively put the box into neutral

In a manual however.... The clutch would grenade itself when you let it back out in first/reverse. How far the shrapnel will travel is anyones guess....

if you did it when you were already turning the wheel slightly, you could probably yank it far enough and quick enough that it would pretty much just go straight into an under-steer slide, either until you let the wheel go back, or you get collected by a barrier or lost enough speed that you got some grip back and the car would snap round.

if you were going perfectly straight there would almost certainly be a very sharp change of direction before grip was lost, and you most likely veer pretty sharply and slam hard into the barrier.
