Got her going today, sounds great. Fueled her up... Wouldn't crank. Similar effect to flat battery. Unplugged ECU and squeezed a few relays, then set and unset the alarm. Cranked but slowley to begin with and the fired? Does this sound like a drain or short? Any ideas?

Anyway, just in case, took for a good run to get some life into the battery. Was going great. All of a sudden white smoke from under the bonnet. Turned her off and it looks like PAS fluid coming from one of the hoses but over the water pump. It's grey fluid, so it isn't oil and it isn't coolant :-/

No advice to offer, except to say; after all you have done to that car, it happens to the best of them.
Well done so far, and good luck resolving the final issues.

A small setback, but a pain none the less. Just waiting for a low loader. Deffo PAS fluid. Reservoir level right down.

Pretty sure its not oil and water, otherwise I would have seen some tell tail signs when driving. Oil pressure smack on 60psi all the time and temp remained pretty much constant.

It is the same colour out of the bottle. I spent ages with the car on stands trying to bleed it. When the level dropped I topped it up again and it seemed to be okay?

Looks like the high pressure pas hose has moved and caught on a pulley and then burnt through... should have used a couple more cable ties. banghead

It will have to wait until next month now cry as I'm still chasing payments from six months ago. So close, yet so far!!!

If anybody has an old rubber one they're no longer using it wold be gratefully received wink

Sorry to hear about that.

When you have completed messing in the bay ideally it's good to have a good look around through arches and ideally from underneath to check everything, easier said then done without a ramp!

Good luck!

What PAS fluid are you using? I have only every seen red.
Adrian@
Came with grey fluid when I bought it from Fernhurst and I replaced with grey fluid. I used Standard Comma PAS fluid.

Bad luck Chris. Nice excuse to get some decent quality PAS hoses.

Same here I too use Comma, red...I have never seen grey fluid, apart from when red it is full of air, I am not saying it is not out there, I have only ever seen red in TVR's, or in reality red/black with sparkling metallics IF there is an issue!!...I do see an off white/yellow fluid in my wife's Fiat...good luck with the fix.
Adrian@
Tell a lie, it was Wynn's, just checked!

You may laugh (I meant you to), but she actually used those tights at 2 am in the pouring rain in the middle of nowhere in rural Derbyshire when the fan belt broke on their rally prepared Broadspeed Cooper S in the middle of a rally. And before you close your mouth again, my dear departed mum not only was the driver of the car, she was East Midlands Rally Champion......so there!!
